So with the difference between exhaust notes from the 2020 supras and the 2021s, I wanted to start a thread to find out what everyone's running on their 2021s. I currently have an armytrix catback system that uses the oem valves instead of separate controller. Sounds good, but not as prominent as I'd like. I'm considering going for an AA catted downpipe, but its been rough to find exhaust clips on a 2021. Most of youtube clips are with a 2020. Honestly really jealous of the 2020s exhaust note at this point.

A91 edition with Borla atak...
Factory valve installed..
Sounds great at WOT in sport mode..
Factory quite in comfort mode when driving regularly..
Wish it was a touch louder...
GREAT pops and bangs off throttle..

I'm sure with a dp it would be prefect but not will to chance a CEL light..

Glad you're getting great pops and bangs. My set up I mostly get burbles, some pops here and there in high rpm ranges. Overall I feel like its ~15% louder than stock. I agree that a downpipe might be perfect for the sound I'm looking for, which is why I'm leaning towards the AA catted with the "No CEL guarantee".

AWE Resonated Touring on mine. Sounds incredible. Beautiful rolled black tips rather than the ugly cut thin walled tips you get on most.
Sound is tasteful, quality. Never obnoxious, no drone. No childish gunshots every time you let off the throttle, just nice crackles. Love it.

Question on your 2021 with the Borla Atak. Did you have any problems getting the valve to operate properly and open fully? My fixing bow interferes with the support strut when it rotates and I only get about 10-15 degrees opening of the valve. Borla has been looking into it... (I hope)

My valve opens fully...
I had to compress and twist the the factory spring for the valve when I installed the actuator on to the borla...other then that it works as it should...

I did mine actuator closed..valve on exhaust closed...
The exhaust valve doesn't line up with the cars actuator...
Just a little bend and a slight squeeze of the spring...

Test fit on the exhaust to ensure the valve will open without rubbing on the exhaust pipe...

It was a pain but easy enough to get...

AWE resonated Touring with Diamond Black tips paired with the AA catted DP. Without the DP, it has a nice deep aggressiveness, with the DP, it is very aggressive and quite loud, but no drone. I've heard the AWE, HKS, Akra, Valvetronic, Magnaflow and Tomei in person, and the AWE for me was the perfect blend of bass, volume, and zero-drone.

Only downside is no valve, but for my use case, it was irrelevant.

Ryan do you have an estimate of how much louder the AA catted DP was than stock with the catback system? Also I was considering AWE as well but I wanted a valved system as my neighborhood is relatively quiet and most of them drive hybrids.

If I had to put them on a scale:

Fully Stock: 3/10
AWE + Stock DP: 4.5/10
AWE + AA Catted DP: 7/10
AWE + Catless DP = 9/10

The key thing with this combo is there is no rasp at all, and no drone, it is a very clean I6 sound. It is dumb loud at cold startup, quiets down to nominal levels at idle, and really gets loud again right around 3k RPM through redline. You will get the gunshot type burble on downshift when the engine is warm and you're downshifting under load.
