Hi guys
I apologize for summing up a thread about exhaust but honestly these youtube sound clips are not enough to make a decision.
My goal is a louder exhaust. I would say 25/30% louder then stock and decided on AFE and Borla since they sound nice and price is good.
I already have a downpipe catted 200 CELL and want to add that bit of deep louder sound from a catback
To be honest these youtube videos for Borla and AFE makes me feel they are only about 5/7% louder then stock catback
Any one with AFE or Borla can tell me how different is it from stock? Any drone with AFE since?

I have the Borla...it is definitely louder then stock...especially on cold start...
In comfort mode the sound is pretty tame but still noticeable..
In sport mode the exhaust sounds fantastic...almost exotic sounding in higher rpm range...great pops n bangs...i personally love the sound and only drive in sport mode?

UNFORTUNATELY the carbon fiber tips do not hold up well to the exhaust temps..
The first system I put on turned brown in about 1000 miles..the resin in the carbon fiber actually burnt?..
Borla did send me a second system under warranty but unfortunately this one is starting to do the same thing with roughly 500 miles since the install...

I think I will see what tips might be available n replace the Borla carbon fiber tips (the carbon fiber actually help sell me on the Borla so a little disappointing)...
At this point I like the Borla sound more then I'm concerned with burnt resin...

Hope this helps..

Steve

I'd say Borla gets my vote as well, we can't keep them in stock, Steve (freeform911) got his system from us and he loves it..

I also have the Borla, and I couldn't be happier with it. I haven't had the issues with the tips, and I've had mine for well over 3000 miles. I did a Kooks green catted downpipe and it just sounds super mean.

Just curious if you have tracked the car with the borla installed?
Seems im6the only one with the issue n just trying to figure out what I'm doing differently...

Only thing I can think is I tracked my car 2 times with the original system...
N 1 track day on the new system...

Either way I love the noise the Borla makes..

@Josh from Meraki Autoworks is definitely my go to for things relating to all my cars...great guy to deal with

I don't have one but my buddy has the aFe exhaust and it sounds great. He let me drive it and I didn't hear any drone at all. One of my biggest gripes I have with many aftermarket exhaust systems is drone. I think the aFe has a resonator which might help with that. I can't speak of the Borla since I haven't driven a Supra with it but I do like their carbon tips. aFe has a few choices for tips, so if I go with them I would probably get the burnt blue tips.

I would guess in comfort mode just cruising it's about the same as stock...press the gas and it's alittle louder than stock(5-10%)...

In sport just cruising it probably 10% louder...at full throttle I'd same 30-40% louder than stock...

The pop n bangs are definitely more than stock on my 21...

I also have the active sound coded out so this is all exhaust...

If you go with the Borla I assure you, you will not be disappointed in the sound...

Video of mine with the AFE and de cat.

It is louder than stock but I'm in the UK and the stock UK exhaust sucks so I can't really compare to the US system etc

I only drove the car in Sport mode, but the increase in volume was subtle yet noticeable from the cabin. If I had to give a percentage than, yes about 20% louder. I don't like loud exhausts for the sake of being loud, but I do like to be able to hear the engine/exhaust when I get on it.
