Yeah.. I don’t know any better than the next guy.. but a bird in hand vs two in the bush concept.. hoping Toyota to make something worthwhile given their track record in recent years the chances are slim. I’m sure if you are in this thread means you are hoping for a manual and it’s now all but confirmed that there isn’t a manual option initially and a slim chance during a refresh.

Are you telling me that that’s something you are going to wait for instead of enjoying life with something else? Not really hating.. just suggesting to not waste your time and enjoy it with all the amazing other options that are out there.

I’m perfectly fine with a BMW powerplant.. 3000 to 3400lb car with somewhere in the 400-450hp, give me a Toyota specific interior and a manual transmission. Never been a big fan of bmw interiors and accompanying that with not having a manual really shoots it down for me.

As much as Toyota states that they had big hand in the development of this car.. for some reason I don’t see any proof of that... besides getting TSS working with BMW electronics and sheet metal. I’m just jaded st this point.. every new bit of news has only been disappointing.. tell me what you’ve heard so far that making you keep a positive outlook so far?

The fact that it's coming is enough

The lack of solid facts keeps me optimistic, or at least, interested. I may not even buy the car....

the facts we have are:

Turbo BMW 6 - no output though, only rumours
RWD
2 seater
low COG
auto - rumoured only choice, but only rumours at this stage

A70 and insiders have left some awesome clues to the cars capability (SPA and ring lap times, low mass) but ultimately, it's all rumours. the 'leaked' brochures and BMW codes are all rumours. again, A70 said the car was first tested with the S55. rumours i know, but again. All conjecture.

So for me, the lack of solid data keeps me interested. If I were to buy one... even if a manual, it would have to be worth selling my C63 for... and while it's not a sports car, the fun factor is obscene.

Wouldn't make much sense as Corolla is FWD and Supra is RWD
Also Corolla is 200- HP and Supra is 400-HP
I am fairly sure RyleyMA61 is trying to get to is that we shouldn't settle for anything sub standard for the Supra name - whether it's coming or not. So you may be happy that it's being released as a 'Supra', this doesn't mean we should settle for a sub standard setup unlike it's predecessors.

I like big rear ends and I cannot lie.

I agree, but if Toyota try to come at me with the something that has the body lines as shown in the latest spy shots..that has no active rear wing, no manual, and maybe a TT for a Cayman price...you outta yo damn mind.

Ford just confirmed a 700 plus HP GT500 with a manual transmission. What on earth is Tada talking about that it’ll (new Supra) be too torquey for a manual. Stupid statements like this make the new Supra sound silly and have no faith in what’s about to come.

^^I agree. The EPA is as lax as it probably will ever be with this current administration. Ford, Dodge, Porsche and a few others have taken full advantage of this.

The new Supra has ALOT of boxes to check if this car is to be a success.

This is either going to be the biggest troll by Tada, or the biggest letdown we've ever seen next to the NSX. Hoping for the latter.

Only time will tell..

His statement about it being too torquey was the most absurd thing I’ve heard from some one highly regarded. Sorta takes away his credibility.. does he even live in the same time. Take a look at the market..

707 Hp hellcat
755 hp ZR1
645 hp Viper
650 Hp Camaro ZL1
650 hp Z06
520 hp GT350

Many 400hp cars with manual. What on earth does he mean the shifts won’t feel good? Wtf does that meannnn
