Here are The FA24 Engine Specs:
The FA24 was introduced in 2018 exclusively for the 2019 model year Subaru Ascent. The bore is increased compared to prior FA20 engines, increasing displacement to 2,387 cc.[12] Direct injection and a turbocharger are used to provide output comparable to a naturally aspirated 6-cylinder engine, and the FA24 uses "regular" (87 AKI) fuel.[13]

Sounds to me, that the FA24 Engine has the possibility to use a turbo. I hope toyota will equip the next 86 with a turbo, to make the car even more interesting for tuner and 86 fans.
How is power delivery of boxer engines compared to other engines? Isn't power delivery engine specific rather than layout specific? You do not like Porsche Flat6 power delivery? While I'm not a fan of boxer engines and how they deliver power, they work for this car because of the insanely low center of gravity.
I guess I should clarify I am talking about Subaru NA boxer engines. They just have non-existent torque in the low/mid range and on the BRZ/86 FA20, have the annoying torque dip. I have not driven a Porsche so cannot comment. How is power delivery of boxer engines compared to other engines? Isn't power delivery engine specific rather than layout specific? Van Zyl also reiterated that the next-gen 86 was still a joint venture with Subaru by saying, "it would have to be developed with Subaru." An earlier report from Japan indicated that the new models would switch to a 2.4-liter powerplant, likely a version of the 260-horsepower (194-kilowatt) unit in the Subaru Ascent. It would also have a lower center of gravity. Current speculation puts the debut in 2021.
Aw... :/ The poor 86... at least we still have it for now while it lasts.the 86 is likely going to be discontinued in the next two years from all that I've heard on this side; a gen 2 car is vaporware at this point.
as for the Supra, I think Toyota will bring the higher end car to the US market, but it will be badged TRD and possibly toned down a bit.
