so has anyone tried to run 5x114's on our cars like the VW/Audi guys have been doing for years?

are there certain wheel brands that are friendly to this type of thing?

I am wheel shopping and the ammount of wheels available in 5x114 (which traditionally has been Japanese spec?) is insane and I cant understand why would Toyota use 5x112 in this car, if anything they should have been 5x120?

in any case, just wondering

has anyone had any experience with "re-drilling" the wheel - are they still intact? or getting a 2nd bolt pattern drilled so the wheel becomes 5x114 and 5x112?

The reason is that it’s a Z4 platform with a Toyota exterior and BMW uses 5x112. Not sure why you would go the drilling route, this is risky. They sell wheels in almost every bolt pattern now.

yes, brand new, and occasionally used, wheels I am looking at are semi-rare and most are in 5x114

bmw's for as long as I can remember were 5x120 when did they switch to 5x112?

and redrilling is a service that VRwheels offers for example, but I dont know anyone that has done it

The image below displays the models and years that use the 5x120 bolt pattern. Some BMWs still use it, but it varies on platform.

I get the rare side of wheels being available in 5x114, but if you’re willing to buy a rare wheel and then risk drilling and damaging it just to get it to fit seems crazy to me. If you decide to sell that wheel later, it will deter people from wanting it when they can buy an untouched one for the same price.

At the end of the day though, it’s your choice. There may not necessarily be a problem with drilling if it’s offered but I’d rather spend money on a wheel I can use than spend that same amount plus more to modify one just because it’s “Rare” and potentially bring down the value on it.

If they are semi-rare JDM wheels, there's no way I'd redrill them. Your problem is going to be finding a wobble bolt in 14x1.25

In general, 5x112 started with the G chassis BMWs. This also isn't particularly helpful unless you're a BMW chassis code nerd though. Most of the new BMW platforms are 5x112 bolt pattern including the G29 Z4/A90 supra. We've made a 5x120 wheel or two for the older platforms.

Beyond bolt pattern compatibility you'll also want to consider the center bore of the wheels as well. If the CB is larger than the ~66.6mm hub ring that comes on the car you can use a set of hubcentric rings, but otherwise you may need to have the centerbore of the wheels machined out to work on your Supra.

You could possibly try one of these options: Adapters or Stud Conversion

The first link is a conversion/spacer kit to 5x114.3 PCD (112mmx1.5 studs) and the second link are just 114mmx1.25 to 112mmx1.5 studs which allows a 5x114.3 wheel to fit. Ive heard some guys say 112mm studs are not a good idea to run on this car due to the car's power level, but if youre not tracking it and/or at stock power level, I dont see it being a huge issue.
I ordered the Stud Conversion kit to try and fit some winter wheels Ive had that are 5x114.3. I can let you know how they work out once theyre delivered and I put them on.

Tested them this weekend and was happy with the fitment. Its a bit finicky getting the wheel over the studs bc they have to line up just right....but they're good. If you dont want to see the stud, you'll have to come up with some sort of cap or 12mm lug nut to cover the stud.

I didnt get a chance to install the entire set of 5x114 wheels I plan on using... I only checked one side (front and rear). Ill post an update here once I get the entire set on and actually drive the car.

Definitely want to use a hub centering ring that matches your wheels hubs to the Supras (66.6mm). I didnt have them yet at the time I tested the studs which is why I didnt drive the car. I just wanted to make sure they actually allowed the 5x114 to be mounted. The rings arrived yesterday so hopefully I can get a chance in the near future to fully test it all out.
