My wife has it free on her Subie...I thought the same as you. But it's nice to have I have to admit. Why is everyone so pressed about the remote start? Car warms up pretty damn fast if you ever leave it outside. Garage keeps it plenty warm.
BMWs rarely have remote start. Environmental shit as well.Because it’s not a winter car, unlike a Subaru
Arguably, it doesn't matter if Toyota makes remote start a subscription... it still wouldn't apply to Supra since the starter, head unit, key fob and even the damn phone app are all BMW anyways.Read on Reddit that remote start will be a subscription based function for future Toyotas...if true F you Toyota
Remote start and other remote features require car to have cellular modem which cost money, just like your mobile phone service. Also this requires mnagement servers hosted in clooud to do authentication and other things. This also not free. Someone has to pay for all of these. Thus if you want to use remote service - it will always come at cost, either the total cost for lifetime of the car will be embedded into car price.Read on Reddit that remote start will be a subscription based function for future Toyotas...if true F you Toyota
You need a cellular modem? My Nsx had remote start on my after market alarm and there was no cellular modem.Remote start and other remote features require car to have cellular modem which cost money, just like your mobile phone service. As far as I know it's illegal to idle more than a minute ( at least in Norway, and we adhere to the eu rules), but that's probably not the reason.. in Europe very few cars (if any) come with a remote start, for all other reasons.. safety, ice cap melting, penguins, polar bears and so on..I was wondering about this a few years ago. From my research (back then), having your car idling for no reason is illegal in Germany.
