100% agreed on that sadly... A sports car should be either rwd or awd . fwd are only the city econo cars because of the practicality of the setup . If this is true and they are thinking about fwd on a sports car , just put a soft top on the supercharged yaris and save a ton of money and still it will be better than a dedicated fwd 1 litre car "sports" car.

*fwd exceptions include civic type r and integra type r , 2 cars that have my respect on the way they handle .

Rigidity and Safety issues i guess, given what the article tells us, if Toyota could have just used something they already have, they would use it, same goes for something that is FR, what other (readily available) small platform besides the MX-5 is using an FR layout?

MX-5 may be one of the smallest rwd cars out there but they could use awd if the cost for rwd was too much. Daihatsu is using awd for their small cars so they could choose many platforms to build such a car with awd instead of fwd. Anyway i believe that it would be better to not make the car and focus their attention to more important sporty designs instead of offering something that is half baked i guess.

Toyota's new model Corolla Fielder "GT-FOUR" revives!? This June appeared!

The design of the Corolla Fielder (a wagon that changes at the same time as Corolla Axio) to fully remodel in June 2018 turned out.

Like the sedan, it becomes an aggressive and stylish design that reverses the image of the Corolla so far. Clearly the target user is likely to be a different car from the current type with a strong impression like a commercial van.

Like a sedan's Axio Fielder transforms into a stylish one. GT-FOUR of 1.6 L turbo appears with a delay of about half a year from the standard specification

Both the full length and the full width have been expanded to become the 3 number body as already reported, and both the A pillar and the C pillar are characterized by the coupe look which made it drowsy. As for the front mask, the headlamp becomes a boomerang shape, and it becomes considerably "an impression that attacked".

In 2017, a camry which remarkably changed the image appeared, clarified the difference from the conventional model, but the Corolla Fielder is the same as the full model change.

The platform is a newly developed TNGA, realizing its low form. The total height of the current model is 1510 mm, but the next model seems to be low until the late 1400 mm range. Of course, the floor itself is low, so there is no worry that the interior, luggage compartment space will be sacrificed. It stylishly transforms while maintaining practicality.

Power unit is 4, 1.5L hybrid and 1.5L, 1.8L gasoline engine. In addition to these, Corolla Axio is also equipped with a 1.2 L direct injection downsizing turbo mounted on the current auris, but according to the latest information, Fielder does not use this 1.2 L direct injection turbo. "It is not a practical turbo engine that emphasizes fuel economy, but a turbo engine is prepared for Fielder to achieve compatibility between fuel economy and sports performance."

That is the newly developed three cylinder, 1.6L direct injection turbo.

Fielder GT - FOUR that information is entering the editing department may be incorporated into the GR series. In any case, Corolla is serious about sports

The revival of a former wagon's famous car
This is the first engine to be adopted in the next Auris appearing in May 2018, which is also used for the field. Three cylinders seems to be a fuel-efficient downsizing turbo engine, but the maximum output is 250 ps and it exerts power comparable to the 2L turbo.

Even so, I am surprised, but I am surprised that this 1.6L turbo model will be a full time 4WD exclusive vehicle. Speaking of "Wagon" "Turbo" "Full time 4 WD", Cardinal GT-Four was once used, but the next term Fielder will prepare its re-model.

Caldina GT-Four sold from 2002 to 2007 has generated 260 ps in the 2 L turbo. There was also N edition meaning Nürburgring

Speaking of GT-FOUR (Celica era was all capitalized) is Toyota's big name. This Corolla Fielder 1.6L turbo also has the possibility of setting the grade name as "GT-FOUR", it is a strategy to appeal nostalgia to the elderly and to show the freshness to the target young people.

As for the 4WD system, there is not detailed information yet, but because of the Corolla which can not be set extremely high price even though it is a whole sports model, it is effective to become the one evolving the current torque split type.

However, from the image of GT-FOUR, the fans should not be convinced if it is not true full-time 4WD system, but the active center differential system used in WRC machine is improved for commercial cars There is also the possibility of mounting it.

The debut is expected to be delayed from the end of 2018 - the beginning of 2019 - about six months after the release of the standard specification Corolla Fielder. To surprise Toyota 's evolution model, surprising car raised a big name.

I love Toyota Supra , Mazda rx-8 , Nissan Z (350Z AND 370Z) , Fiat 500
We have the GT86 , Supra is returning as a Toyota Gazoo Racing car and days ago I saw that the next-Corolla generation will have a GT-Four version like they did with Caldina.
But we didn't saw the real new Supra neither a new Celica so my question is , which lineup you think has 100% of chances to be real in the end of the decade?

Would totally rock a Toyota Fielder GT-Four as a DD. The 1.6 or 1.8 turbo from the Yaris GRMN plus AWD would be a beast.

I think you may find the third car slots in more or less above the 86...

Long way off however.

No news on the SFR :( but they're still showing it to the public. It was at the Taipei auto show a few months ago.
