Cel was on, i debated clearing it out but i didn't think it would be an issue honestly, the dealer has everything at their disposal to clear Cel/codes in the ECU and do the work. At the end of the day, they were just being A-holes about it.
CEL will do it.

The dealership I went to was pretty solid.

They initially gave the car back to me. They only asked to revert the changes I made to parameters with Bimmercode. More than likely, certain changes I made didn't pass the checksum phase of the update.

They are probably refusing to perform a clear and applying the update because of various issues they've had in the past. Possibly, people were losing settings and/or having to unlock their control unit again. This could have lead the dealership to place a blanket policy not to deal with modified vehicles.

Took mine to Landers Toyota in Little Rock. Rolled up with catless downpipe, slammed with Tomei exhaust, jb4 and dual meth injection set up. No problem. They even called me to check before starting the recall to make sure I knew if that if my ecu was unlocked with a tune that it would re lock it. Can't complain there. Easy peasy.

Really? I had bimmercode on mine, and the dealer who did my recall didn't have any issues. I just had to redo the bimmercode settings afterwards, as expected.

This is what should happen, not having the service tech say we can't do it because he notices the car starts in Sport mode.....psshhh

Have you been denied the brake recall because of minor mods like a JB4 and downpipe? Ridiculous. Now I have to shop other dealers willing to do it. Curious if anyone else has this experience.
Is the brake recall only for the 3.0 models or does it cover the 2.0 models too?

I was able to get it done at a Hendrick Toyota dealer, they didn't give me any crap. Set JB4 to map 0, cleared aftermarket downpipe CEL, unplugged the JB4 from OBDII port and tucked it up under the plastic panel. Thanks for the advice everyone...i've made a mental note that this might have been a good thing to do the first time at the first dealer and i may not have had an issue. Who knows but just sharing my experience.

You'll get a letter in the mail if your vin is impacted. You can also call the dealer and have them look it up and they will be able to tell you.

Is Town & Country where you tried first? An acquaintance of mine spoke very highly of the Supra tech there, but I have no first hand experience. I lowkey despise Hendrick for a number of generally petty things, but glad to hear you had no issue. I have a similar set of mods and have been holding off tuning until getting the recall done, but I couldn't find much feedback on either option. Appreciate the input.

B58 3.0 Supras, and a host of other BMWs that use this version of the engine. Nothing for the 2.0s, you're fine.

The Scott Clark Toyota in Matthews is like 3 miles from my house and where I had been denied the recall. Drove up to Concord Hendrick Toyota and they did the recall for me. Scott Clark may have done it for me but I had a CEL on that I didn’t clear from the downpipe, so that was like an automatic no for them regardless of the JB4.

Recall work not done because of mods that dont have any thing to do with said recall is a lawsuit waiting to happen and I would press the dealership but if I modded a part/area of car that had recall and they said no thats on me. Granted I dont take my cars to dealerships and cant get Subaru to stop bothering me about a recall even after telling SOA that the car will never be back to a dealership.
