Have you been denied the brake recall because of minor mods like a JB4 and downpipe? Ridiculous. Now I have to shop other dealers willing to do it. Curious if anyone else has this experience.

I was not. Just set to Map 0 and disconnect the OBD port plug and you should be good to go.

Toyota dealerships have not been a good experience for me. Try to find another one if you have a few near you.

What's your location? Maybe you could see what dealerships other members here have used successfully in your area.

Check your regional forum to see what dealers everyone is using and if they are mod friendly. Id have to guess there's gotta be a big group in NC that can point you in the right direction. Either way, I would disconnect the JB4 and remove it before bringing it in to avoid any hassles.

My car is tuned and DP and i was able to find a good service advisor that was able to help me address an issue without re-flashing my car for the recall.

My dealer didn't give a crap about my downpipe, nor did they care about the other two more-heavily modded Supras they performed the recall on. As long as the mods don't directly interfere with the ability to complete the update, it's game on.

I'm also leaning towards there being potentially serious legal issues with any dealer refusing to perform any safety recall, but I'm not a lawyer nor have I read all of the fine print. I'm sure the NHTSA would be interested in hearing about your experiences.

Thanks for all the advice guys! Yeah, I should have disconnected the JB4 at a minimum but the can probably see the Flex Fuel sniffer in the engine bay as well. Have to find a dealer that won’t be pricks about it. I was actually surprised they can turn anyone away from a safety recall regardless of mods….couldn’t they be susceptible to being sued if there was an issue due to the recall after they deny someone?

I took mine with a downpipe and they didn't say anything. I cleared the code before I left the house prior to dropping it off. Never said anything to me.
Downpipe = CEL

ie i think he went in there with a CEL

Cel was on, i debated clearing it out but i didn't think it would be an issue honestly, the dealer has everything at their disposal to clear Cel/codes in the ECU and do the work. At the end of the day, they were just being A-holes about it.
