I had a G82 on order before I just purchased the Supra. What was initially supposed to be a 3 month wait turned into a 10 month wait and I didn't want to be without a car for that long.

I could definitely see myself in an M3/M4 after the Supra. Having driven a G82 for 40-50 miles, I will say that it's a monster of a car. While you can feel the weight increase from my previous F82, the power and interior more than make up for it. As for the grille, ive warmed up to it. But I would still get a black one to blend it as much as possible
Was it the xDrive version or RWD? I'm really curious to see how those are like. I oddly love the ability to swap between RWD and AWD in the xDrive version. I agree about the interior too, while I do like the Supra's minimal, yet driver focused interior, I do wish we had things like ambient light control, cooled seats etc.

The one I drove was a RWD version and manual and was a blast to drive.

If I were to personally buy one right now, I'd got with an M3 comp Xdrive. The AWD would be great here in Chicago and the automatic would give the wife a chance to drive it as well.

I'm glad I'm not the only one with that op. I feel that way especially with the new M4. Too long and too heavy to the point it looks kinda awkward, but I'm not adversed to entertaining the possibility of an M3 in the future.
I get that the M3/M4 are getting bigger, but 500hp/AWD/3800lbs is basically the GT-R formula with modern creature comforts and tech. That’s why the G80/G82 still appeals to me.

I just joined a local Supra group on Facebook and was of course immediately greeted with "durr but this isn't a Bimmer club!"

It's very easy to hate on a car that you can't even afford. I think that's where a lot of criticism comes from. Who cares who made what? It's a gorgeous head-turner and is quick as hell out of the box, with a ton of power left on the table if you want to play with it. It's a fantastic car overall, that's why I bought one.

There's no real hate, OP. Especially on this forum. We all have the same car. There have been a couple of Supra "purists" or whatever from ThatOtherForum™ that show up once in a while and start shit, but they usually get banned quickly for being dicks.

Aside from the occasional tiff between members, we agree on the important stuff, such as:

* Black is the best color
* Auto trans is the best/fastest
* Swapping out your downpipe is modifying your exhaust
* What the word 'knock-off' means
* The 2.0 is a reasonable engine
* What "A90" vs. "A91" means
* Ecutek or bust

So agree on the important things, 👆🏼 enjoy the car. Fuck the trolls with their 'It's a BMW' and 'It's not a real Supra.'
You forgot to mention that we all agree on the differences in stages 1-5 are 🤣🤣🤣

OP here again and I appreciate all the feedback. Just to clarify, I don't care one bit about what others think about what I drive. I buy cars for me. I was just struck by how divisive this car is amongst certain people.
Of course there's some riff-raff here and there, but everybody generally loves this car.

Granted we do give each other quite a bit of sh!t, but we're car guys, it's what we're good at.

Me too. Just yesterday I was at an intersection where a bunch of kids were crossing the street in front of me and a couple of them pointed at me and said "It's a Supra!". Then they all turned to notice and waved at me. I waited until they were safely on the sidewalk and then goosed it to give them a little show😜

A couple of us Seattle folks did an Easter cruise through Kirkland, and heard some kids go bonkers over seeing 10 of us rolling down the street. Turned so many heads through the main street there.

There are so many high end cars here in Alpharetta its ridiculous. I think Avalon has a bunch of Porsche 911 GT3 owners in town for the Driving Experience at Hartsfield. With that said, this car still gets lets of positive comments. Even as I roll up to the Starbucks drive thru with sport mode on the barista said she liked it. Stopped at Publix and little girl walking with her mom was like "look at the yellow car mommy". ROFL.
