In all honesty, get what you can find at this point. These will be limited run....so, if you wait too long, you may not be able to get one at all. Good thing is, no matter what you find, it will hold it's value better than the auto's. Good luck.

From what I know, the manuals (in general no specific trim) are “supposed” to be limited production. That’s why I’m saying, get whatever is available.

To play on the mystery and ambiguity, could one of these factors be AEB? Which not only affects the Supra, but all newly produced manual trans cars in 2024/25. There are definitely varying degrees of truth in what you're saying, but it also really depend on how we are all individually defining "limited production". The Supra in it's current form will definitely be limited until let says 2025 (auto or manual), but how does one quantify "limited production" for the manual Supra. Just going off USA sales #s, would 5,000 total manual Supras sold for a 3 year run be considered limited? 4,000? 3,000?

This is surely part of it….along with the “evolution” of the MKV Supra. They aren’t done with the MKV Supra yet, I’m pretty sure there will be a few more “offerings” as the platform ripens. As much as I hate inflation and the shit going on in our economy, I gotta say it has pushed some car makers to really start elevating their decision-making processes.

Price and mark up etc will determine. When you look at manual sales of higher end sportscars that have one - the auto or DCT outsell them. The Supra is not a budget car at all. THere is alot of 'hype' about manual pushed by the press lol. They have not always been right. 30% is the prediction from Toyota. Would be interesting to see the data driving that overall.

It looks like BMW doesn't want its I-6 Z4 left out if the Supra is being equipped with a manual gearbox on the same assembly line.

BMW Z4 M40i With Manual Gearbox Under Consideration For US -- The new transmission could arrive with the car’s alleged 2023 mid-cycle refresh.

It should come as no surprise there are rumors that BMW will equip the Z4 M40i with a manual gearbox. The BMW’s Toyota equivalent got such an upgrade earlier this year, pairing the coupe’s straight-six engine with a six-speed manual. Now, BMW Blog is reporting that the BMW model could also receive a similar upgrade.

According to the publication’s sources, BMW is now considering giving the Z4 M40i a six-speed manual transmission. BMW offers the four-cylinder Z4 sDrive30i with a six-speed manual in select markets, which Toyota adapted to use with the Supra’s BMW-sourced B58 six-cylinder engine. Toyota offers this combination in the US market.

BMW will allegedly add the six-speed manual to the Z4 M40i when it updates the model lineup later this year. The coupe will also receive a mild styling refresh, which will begin arriving in the US in 2023, and that should include the manual gearbox. The US could be the Z4’s only market where BMW equips it with a manual gearbox.

The BMW Z4 and the Toyota Supra share a lot of their mechanical bits, with the two riding on a platform from BMW that uses BMW engines and transmissions. They have distinct styling differences, and the two automakers have worked to give each a unique driving feel.

A manual gearbox would be a great addition to the Z4 M40i, especially as there are rumors that BMW could give the model the ax in mid-2025, with production ending at Magna Steyr in Austria. The factory builds the BMW Z4 and the Toyota Supra, and it’s pretty apparent the auto industry is shifting to only building electric vehicles, so cars like the Z4 could have a limited lifespan. However, BMW could replace it, too, but we have no idea what that could be.

Manual gearboxes are disappearing, just like sports cars, sedans, and other fun-to-drive vehicles. The transition to electric vehicles will kill the transmission once and for all, so this might be your last chance for a manual-equipped BMW coupe.

I wonder what BMW is giving Toyota in return seeing that Toyota did all the engineering on this new 6MT. Updated infotainment for 2024? Don’t think S58 would be given in this trade.
