If you work in this field and know better than them what and how can be protected, I'm sure they would appreciate the information and pay for it good money.
^^^ I’ll be watching that telegram group go hard ask them all your burning questions directly

i have offered them many solutions, from encryption, to cloud based systems, they said they have had some US companies steal stuff from them in the past and flat our rejected my offers.

I think it has more to do with legal implications than anything logistically. They’re able to operate in a grey area from Finland / Russia.

It’s just an opinion, but… my opinion… is that there are some potential legal hurdles in the United States. I say that with a big maybe, just seeing what states like California are doing with smog testing that now include checking for ECU flashing — and the EPA fining companies in the thousands per ECU they modified.

All that said, I just checked my original ECU that I received back from Femto and it was not opened. No tool marks, factory gaskets still in tact, torque screws all at the same parameters. I have seen some server racks in the pictures they’ve shared, so I have my doubts that they are touching a bare board, and instead my theory is that they have a leaked SA / PEM key that Bosch is unaware of, or they have figured out a consistent way to brute force with enough attempts. Either way they would have had to know the naming conventions of the accounts and or at least the keys. Along with the encryption type, and key length.
I agree about the legal hurdles you speak of, and I was going to mention the server racks too, it’s good to know for certain that they don’t open the DME, when you speak of accounts or keys, are there any off the shelf software that can access DMEs but requires those keys to access locked one? Or you would need custom software?

you can try to find a pre 2020 dme first, if you succeed you can buy the 23 and go the cloning route.
