I did the unlock last night using m-link. Very straight forward (although the dme connectors are a pain to get out and out in if you are prone to stress lol). I can confirm that this is an at home unlock.

this was done on a 2024 mt, and I purchased the super license m-link package. I flashed mhd onto the car afterwards. The unlock itself takes about 15 seconds to complete and is a series of pressing two buttons. Super easy. I was also able to back up an image of my dme prior to unlocking in case I need to go back for any reason.

it’s a little expensive compared to other offerings atm, but being able to do this at home and re-unlock in case it gets locked again is nice peace of mind.

car is fast af now would recommend lol

Tooning 😄
So since you kept a copy of your DME before unlock, does this mean you can re-lock your DME and unlock again later?

What was your all in cost for MLink?

Thanks for being the guinea pig :)

Yep as far as I can see you can “relock” by going back to the backed up dme image.

I paid $500 for mlink. There’s also an option without the advanced backup (no relocking I think?) for $350. With that option you can unlock multiple times though. This is how they describe the two options

This is awesome. It took the duration of the car's production to figure it out, but the ultimate solution is here.

Now how long till autotuner/femto release an at home solution lol. We all know the tech is there, they just haven't needed to offer it yet.

I'm thinking about going the same route you did.

Do you have any draggy before/afters?

Did you do any logging? How does it look with the OTS map?

The method you use to unlock the DME doesn't actually change how the car performs. Whether you use the M-Link at home or ship the ECU out, an unlocked DME is just an unlocked DME.

Because he most likely flashed a standard MHD OTS map, your dragy times, logs, and overall performance are going to look identical to the hundreds of other MKV's already running that exact same MHD map and setup. search the forums?

Those threads are months old a report problems with MHD OTS tunes going into limp mode on MT cars. Since Wumbo just did it, I was wondering his experience. I could revive a long dead thread and hope that person is still around, or I could post here and ask the guy who just did it how it's working out. Being able to analyze a log file off the newest OTS revision would answer all of my questions.

Had he posted in one of those other threads, I'd have asked there - but he didn't.

I have not had any issues with limp mode. As i read it, this seems more likely to happen the more power you are pushing on the MTs. This is evident by the fact that its more common on 93/ethanol vs the 91 map. I'm also not doing a bunch of WOL pulls though, so maybe i just haven't pushed the car hard enough? I'm on stock tires so i haven't been pushing to its limit.

On newest MHD STG2 93 map with my 26 MT and can confirm it still does happen, quite rare and it really depends on the intensity of the shift/race im doing. Power cycling the car almost always takes it back out of limp.
