I'm pretty surprised no one mentioned the traction issues in the Supra. It does hook well enough, but if you get sideways there isn't a ton of steering angle to save you, and the rear end comes out quick.

Stock tire setups and alignment is not that great. Most guys go wider tires immedietly after roasting the stock PSS. I had traction issues pretty quickly from lower speeds with the stock tires.

You should find a new dealer to work with. I just had my 21' engine rebuilt because of excessive consumption. New pistons and rings.
To be honest, the dealer that's helping me with the oil issues isn't where I bought the car from - I live in a different town and they couldn't get me a car, so I found one about three hours away. They have been nothing but nice and helpful with oil changes (obviously want them to do it given the issues) when I need them despite that, but I'm getting tired of waiting on my $80k CAD car to get fixed while I read about everyone else getting their car bought back or having their engine rebuilt. Now that I've started the warranty process with them, I was advised to not take the car elsewhere as it only complicates matters.

I suspect the delay is down to me being in Canada, and all the cars getting fixed are in the US...? That's what I'm telling myself anyway. I went and bought a titanium exhaust, downpipe, and some other things when I bought that car but it's all been sitting on the shelf for a year as I can't install any of it because of the warranty process :(

I wish I could keep both. My fear is the possible “regret” of selling the GT350. I had that car since new
had a helluva time locating one at msrp. At the same time, life is short and variety is the spice of life
.and it seems the supra is more livable as the daily driver..smaller, better mpg, automatic

Hi OP, I've never driven the GT350 but I understand it's a highly capable sports car, and I really like the look and sound. So you have a pretty amazing ride right off the bat. Supra's interior cabin luxury, ride quality, and power will exceed your expectations. Don't know if it will be more engaging than your GT350, but sound is very good. Never tracked it, mostly canyon carve and the handling is really exceptional. Drawbacks for me personally? Have to turn off auto start/stop each time, and I get really antsy parking in busy areas. Reliability has been great but only have 7k+ miles so still early I'm ownership. JBL sound system is okay.

To further discuss on the rattling issue, some have major issues with rattles and creaks all over the interior. However, there are others that have no major issues with interior noise. As for me, I have experienced significant issues with rattling inside of my 2020 with 8300 miles on it. Although most might think I am overplaying it, I have had MANY passengers comment on the issue(s). In order to resolve it, I had to remove panels and sound-deaden things.

Not trying to scare you away, but it does seem to be hit-or-miss. Bear in mind, mine was purchased pre-owned with 5300 miles on it. It is possible that my example was stored outside it's entire life before being mine, and extended heat exposure can definitely introduce rattling. I am actually looking to sell and get a M2 Competition instead; my Supra has really let me down in the quality control department.
You will be sorely disappointed in the M2 if rattles bother you. Had one and it is a terrific track car but poorly suited for the street.

Like others have said, I didn't come from a GT350, but from a 18 GT. I miss the sound sometimes. that is it......... oh and the extra room on trips to SoCal. not space in the car so much as space around me, but it isn't really a problem. I was number 1 MKV Supra hater... Sold my GT to order a C8 and then fell in love with my Supra the PO was selling in Houston. 3 days later I was on a flight from Vegas to Houston and drove it home with my son and never looked back. I think this is a better car in every way. i did have some squeaks that was taken care of with the cusco harness bar, that helped a lot since the exhaust drone had a frequency that just resonated with the oem piece. And this doesn't have bad drone at all with the catless dp and AWE touring exhaust.

I'm really trying to think of issues I've had........ My HUD disappeared once. came back the next day.... The other day it turned over and sputtered for a while before it started but that was the only time its happened. Weird also since I'm not on e50 tune was just regular 91oct. Otherwise, I can't think of another single issue I've had in almost a year of ownership.

As an owner of a 2020 M2C, I can second the rattling. At the end of the day, it's the lowest on the totem pole of all ///M cars and the quality of interior will reflect that. Combine that with a stiff suspension, and things are going to rattle lol. That being said, hard to expect a sports car to not rattle at all. Even porsches rattle.

I had a 2020 M2 Competition after my last Supra, with around 10k miles on it. Spent a few months driving it, and honestly loved it. If you're trading over rattles, you're going to be severely disappointed.

The difference is, now you'll also have to worry about spinning your crank hub. Repairing it if it happens, or installing the correct fix cost about the same - around $4-5k.

Now, that said - the M2 Comp was an absolute riot compared to the Supra, especially if it's cold out. You are NOT making a turn from a stop sign without spinning a wheel if it's cold out, period. Between the diff locking up a bit easier due to thicker fluid, and the cold summer tires, it's drift-city. Shifts can be positively brutal - usually in a good way. It's not quite as quick (to 60mph) as the Supra, and it doesn't hold as many G's on the skidpad according to Car & Driver, but if it's a track car you're after, you're in for a treat. It has a pretty decent duality about it, honestly.

Again, though - if build quality, rattles, etc. are your primary concerns, you'd better stick with the Supra!

better mpg,
You have no idea. I drove 180 miles to pick up my first Supra, a 2021 3.0 Premium, out to Wilmington, NC from Waxhaw, NC. Thoroughly enjoyed the first leg of my trip, coming out of Wilmington - interpret what you will from that. At the halfway mark, my average gas mileage (and therefore, lifetime average) was 38mpg. In a car with nearly 400hp. I did NOT drive in gingerly - but also cruised at only around 5-10mph over, as we were in the midst of the fuel shortage here in NC.

When I got to the first gas station that had gas to sell, about 80% through my trip, I still had about half a tank. Average gas mileage was 36mpg at that point.

From there, it was mostly city driving. Traffic lights, a bit of stop-and-go, but not too much, because pandemic. When I got home, burbling into the driveway, my average mileage had settled to 35mpg. Absolutely insane.

Other trips, both in that Supra and my 2022, netted a bit lower, as they were mostly in the mountains, but still way better than I expected, averaging 32mpg on one trip to Asheville. The worst long-drive mileage I saw was 29mpg, but that was nearly straight uphill the entire way - the trip back averaged 36mpg.

Mostly city mileage, my lifetime average on both before I sold them was 26.2mpg - identical to the tenth on both of them. And, again - I did not drive either one gingerly.

Moral of the story - yeah, you're definitely going to get better gas mileage than the GT350, even on its worst day. haha

lol, facts, my GT on e85 city driving was 10.2-10.5. most people say smiles per gallon and if you care about mpg you shouldnt own the car... my supra runs straight circles around that mustang, while getting 21-22 city and 36 best hwy... ill take the more mpg and smile while doing it every time.

Yea I am constantly amazed by the great gas mileage the car gets. I could care less since I don't daily it but I am still amazed by the mpg it gets to/from track events.

Hey folks,

Current GT350 owner over here thinking of making the switch over to the supra. I was just wondering whether you guys have ran into “common” issues with the supra? The car will mostly serve as weekends and hpde track days ride.

Common problems Iran into with the GT350 are: sagging rear bumper, squeaks/rattles (car only has 18K on odometer), panel misalignments, and replacing the starter motor twice due to heat soak. I never had the dreaded oil consumption issue, but have had engine wiring break due to excessive shaking of the motor (I’m actually worried the car is going to vibrate/shake itself to death due to the voodoo motor)

Any issues I should be on the look out for? PS other than wheels and tires, I plan on keeping the car stock
It's a great daily. Use mine every day. I've heard people say, "the GR Supra wouldn’t make for much of a daily driving vehicle." If I can daily the Supra in Los Angeles, you can't daily it anywhere in the world. I appreciate having the option to not have the car in sports mode 24/7.
