Why I'm NOT Hyped About The New Toyota Supra

Of course hes entitle to express his opinion. A lot of us are just wondering what he doesn't like about.

Well yeah but it's pretty obvious he's pissed about Toyota not making an A80, and he's not hyped. Instead, they made a BMW I mean anyone would be pissed right that's ever owned an A80. That's my take on it anyways. I;m just happy we're getting a car, again most of this drama could have been averted if they didn't call it a Supra. I think I said this like two pages ago.

It's either that or A80 owners need to get off their high horse Toyota didn't make the A90 specifically for you, you're part of the equation just a part, there's much more that goes into it. If it went the way A80 owners want, then the 86 would have been a Corolla RWD hatchback with pop up headlights. Also it's like the New 86 will never live up to the old 86 it's totally different. But there was a part of the equation that old AE86 owners want in the new one. It's the same here.

Why does only A80's owners opinion matter? I mean there were 3 other generations of this car. So the A70 and A80 shouldn't have used the Supra name either? Because both were not Celica based. Cars change over time, and people just need accept it.

All this drama is occurring because of online rumors. Like I said, everyone should just wait until the real thing shows up to pass judgement. I'm also pretty sure Toyota knows what is riding on their shoulders by going with the Supra name. They were the ones that built the damn thing after all.

Not an official statement from Toyota, but if you go onto Moto's page he has said it will use a new motor. Out of the two I would much rather believe a friend of Tada san over some 39 year old in AL.

So you want facts? Where are your facts that this car is doom? Why don't you just wait for the official press release and maybe more importantly a chance to get behind the wheel of one before passing judgement?

Let’s slow this down for you.

1. I never said this car is doomed, your words, not mine (pay better attention)
2. I always said this is just my opinion and pointed out all the ‘facts’ floating around here are not actually facts (look up the definition of the word)
3. I stated that we should wait and see, hopefully it will be great and i’ll Eat my own words (now you are just repeating what I already said with a dumbed down version.
4. Facts? it’s a modified BMW, that is a fact. (Can’t help you if you can’t read or understand it)
5. Calm down. Have an intelligent conversation based in reality, not hype. Stick to what you know, not what you believe (it’s a general good advice for anything in life).
6. I am not from AL (again, details are important, I wonder how many other things you read and got wrong)

You don’t have to agree with anything I say and I am not trying to convince anyone of anything. I just prefer to have conversations based in reality and not fantasy and base it on what we know, not what we hope it will be. I might be in the wrong place.

Not pissed , disappointed. Never owned an A60 or A70, only An A80 so I can only speak to my experience with what I have. I also think that the A80 is far superior to the A60 and A70 as does the rest of the world. It’s the A80 that everyone always thinks of when they hear the Supra name. Again, just my opinion, don’t shoot!

4. Base on? The G29 did not already existed. Toyota & BMW co-developed Z4 & Supra together.

Same here, I'm not basing anything on fantasy. Just going by what little info we do know.

Just to better clarity your POV.

1st, you said the car was too small. To that others have pointed out that it isn't too much smaller than the A80. Shorter wb than the 86, but still longer overall.
2nd, you are complaining about it not being a "GT". A front engine two seater still fits the bill. So if Toyota were to just shove backseats in you would be ok with it?
3rd, you bring up reliability. This car isn't going to use electronics from the 7 series so chill.
4th, you keep calling it a reskin Z4. While it does share parts with BMW, according to Moto its definitely more than a "reskin Z4".

So I'll say it one last time. Let's agree to disagree and too just chillax until we see the real thing.

The A90 is a BMW, that is why it’s not the same for those who are true fans of the A80. Only those who own or owned the A80 will understand.

So the A90 isn't a Supra because it has a BMW bottom end?
Well in that case, the R8 isn't an Audi

THIS. I was just a wee little lad when Fast and Furious, and NFS Underground came out. I admire and love the A80 because of these two things, but never fully understood why the Supra was such an acclaimed car until I got much older.

That just shows your age or you just don’t know any better. The Supra was already a ‘thing’ way before the movie came out, that’s why they used the Supra in the movie. The movie just put a brighter light on it, unfortunately a lot of younger people remember it because of the movie and not for what it actually is. There is a reason why it’s worth more now than it did 25 years ago. The value was going up way before the movie as well.
