Yep, for everyone, if you get the message that something can’t be programmed just try backing up a step and trying it there. Seems weird but that’s how they set it up.

I did this once and then I Bimmer coded the head unit and the settings all went away. There was much sadness and consternation. I haven't recovered (or it needed it that much) to reprogram them.

Sadly anytime you code something in the head unit, you will lose all your presets, tone, equalizer settings, etc

Not able to do a little video at the moment, however, after you choose the tire pressures from the menu push the iDrive knob to the left. From there just highlight the screen you want to program and choose/hold the button down. For CarPlay I would assume just highlight it on the home screen without selecting it and do the programming.
