I was driving last night and hit this part of construction where the road was dug up. I hit it going 30mph/50kmh. It was a hard and big thump made me cringe. No obvious damage to tires or rims I can see. The car feels like its vibrating and feels like it doesnt drive as smooth. Not sure if its all in my head. What are some things I should get checked specifically when I bring it to the mechanic besides an alignment. Any help is appreciated.

If the pothole was very nasty, and you feel vibration, I would assume the wheel got misaligned, but, you might also want to check your steering linkage. I've heard of some cases where the steering linkage gets damaged when hitting curbs/potholes hard enough.

Edit: Maybe this thread may help a bit, so you can see what I'm talking about: Broken steering linkage | SupraMKV - 2020+ Toyota Supra Forum (A90 MKV Generation)

Also have them spin the wheels while checking the balancing. You may have a bent inner rim edge.

If you smoked a pothole just tell them the story of what happened and what you are experiencing. They will probably take the car for a test drive and if they feel anything look deeper into it. I've read stories on this forum of people doing that and it's bent control arms and rims.

Bent control arms and knuckles are common for this type of deal.

Definitely check inner rim edge like mentioned above and your lower control arm.

I hit a huge pothole/divot on track when going too wide at 70 mph. I’m talking like 2 feet wide and about 8” deep.

Ended up ruining my SPL ball joint on the control arm and bending the inside edge of my wheel pretty severely. Outside edge looked fine… so looks can be deceiving.

Both are easily fixable though. You most likely won’t have any major damage to anything else.
