I have no doubt the M2 will be impressive and will feel lighter than it's curb weight suggests. Which may be more fun? I suppose depends on what you plan to do with it. Straight line performance may be similar, steering feel I speculate will be more feedback in Supra, and visibility in M2 will be better. Keep in mind the Supra does have many prior gen M2 parts. The tech in the M2 will no doubt have more screens, less buttons, and subscription to do God knows what lol. But for sure more modern.

Could you stop repeating this to make it sound like this is a normal occurrence? You are going to scare people for no reason. Someone did something wrong with your alignment to have that happen. I’ve aligned my Supra 5x now with absolutely zero issues. I even have multiple SPL arms and coil overs.

Again, zero issues and plenty of track guys who also don’t have that issue.

True. However, not my intent. I do think this is an advantage of a car going through a few years/cycles. The more aftermarket people get more parts, the better! Especially if/when something does come up. So, would I want a brand-new BMW model or this Z4 Supra? I'd pick this one for sure, especially for tracking. Because things always come up when pushing your car to the limits.

I'll go to BMW on Monday for the steering angle reset. It really shouldn't be a problem. Did you also adjust your toe on your alignments? I have heard BMW in general is more "finicky" than say a Mazda, Honda or Ford... Which does make it tough when you need a Supra "BMW" technician at a Toyota dealer. They didn't even have one for my scheduled appointment day. Had to come back and they should have just done it. Definitely not the best dealer experience. So, that would be a plus for the M2. At least all their techs would know the car, if heaven forbids a steering angle sensor needs reset ?‍

Yes! I ordered that from the Naples dealer who was cheaper than this dealer I got my panties in a wad about. Sorry to vent brother. I absolutely love this car!! And you are completely right. This is not a common thing for our cars. Luckily I’ve found the fix, thanks to everyone on here and @underdonk and few others who have had this same rare incident.

That same race alignment shop was the one that pointed out my ever so slightly bent tie rod. He also had no problems with my car being lowered on a previous alignment with negative camber. But was really apologetic when he couldn’t find the option to adjust the steering angle sensor on this particular alignment giving me some toe out. He showed me his screen on the snap on computer and was genuinely surprised it wasn’t there, the option to reset it. Another dude (phenomenal shop and mechanic btw - separate story) I met yesterday had a different software/brand machine that had all the latest updates. He downloaded them specifically for this incident. A couple of race shops around here told him of my issue. He was really hoping he would have access to that steering angle sensor. He said BMW or Toyota OEM software/equipment will definitely have the option to reset it. And luckily, since we’re in the +3rd year of production, more cars will be coming out of warranty = more aftermarket thinking out of box guys like him will have access to stuff like this. So I‘m told….

The components you are talking about have been out in the world since at least 2016.

I think your mechanic messed up the tie rod install and now unfortunately it’s causing you grief. Live and learn.

Yeah, had Thursday appt, they somehow forgot that Supra’s needed a special mechanic to work on it (despite 2 phone call reminders ?) and I had to come back the next day. Friday the Supra tech didn’t know what to make of all those SPL parts, unsure how to do the steering angel reset or worried about liability on being off from a spec alignment. Not sure… just said find a race shop and didn’t charge me. So, a few other friends with Porsches, BMW, Bentley, McLaren, etc. referred me to two other race shops that work on their track cars. They got me in on a Saturday, downloaded the updates the night before, tried it to no avail. Didn’t charge me a dime. Great peeps! So I’m not sure it’s as common of a fix as @razorlab thinks.

So I had this BMW in my back pocket for Monday. Worse case I can just try another Toyota dealer, like one you went to, that won’t be so freaked out over some really nice after market parts that can take the car beyond specs. Still taking my car to Sebring this weekend, it’s our season down here. And another specialty alignment shop is going to look at it when I get back. They have the BMW Hunter alignment machine and feel pretty confident.

Huh? I never said anything about the fix, I stated that somebody did something incorrect to trigger the error in the first place as that is NOT a common issue when doing an alignment.

If you where closer, I would offer to hook it up to ISTA and get you running again. That is, If it truly just needs a reset and someone didn't break your sensor.

Man, I know I'm super lucky when it comes to dealership service departments - the one I use is awesome - but personally I would just call around to the dealerships in the area and see who can do it. Plus, then, you know what dealership you should use for "Toyota only" stuff in the future. But, as I've mentioned before, I like to do things the expensive and complicated way. Either way, good luck - I hope they get you squared away.

You've been doing things right from the sound of it! Keep up the good work. I'd rather pay more to get er dun right!! Definitely in the process of finding a Toyota dealer near me for when things arise. How soon till you get your bad boyEE on track?

And to stay slightly on topic, I like the looks of the new M cars. Def in the minority.
