Egh, a Z at these specs would definitely be a $60k car minimum which is another reason it's likely untrue.

Yeah, it would be instant death if it came to pass, but Nissan doesn't care about much other than their halo GTR so.
Agreed.. they havenā€™t done a single thing to it besides throw on some damn skies on it.. lol

I really doubt a Z35 will become reality but.. who knows. Never knew a Supra would ever happen as well.

370Z -- heavy pig -- is approaching a 10 year life-cycle, GT-R is also long in the tooth, over 10 years now and both have no successor in sight. Do you think Nissan will replace both? They never made the 240Z and cancelled the IDx (Toyobaru competitor). Will NIssan accept not having any sportscar?

Maybe (I doubt it though), as Nissan won't get anything from the related Alpina A110 and its cancelled twin, the Caterham CT120 (https://topgear.com.my/secret-access-the-caterham-sports-car-that-never-was), and the NIssan and Mercedes project also aborted (Nissan Z - Mercedes SLK twin ala BMW Z4 - Toyota Supra twins), Nissan not to be without sports car, could replace both cars by a car in between. It could be a lighter more compact RWD only detuned GT-R, or a more powerful 370 Z with turbo. The Z being based on the FM platform, makes compromised sports cars. More than that, Nissan making only FWD car, and Infiniti following suit, no next generation RWD-based sedan, and thus the FM platform retiring, making a new sports car on this platform makes no sense. The GT-R, assuming having been profitable and brought further sales costs down, yet the GT-R not being competitive because its price increased will starting to age, a reskinned simplified yet modernized GT-R based car makes a lot of sense. It could be brought to production fast enough, compared to the Toyota-BMW cooperation, being all in-house. It is not impossible, because the new Nissan Leaf is not really new, but a rather extensive redesign.

The next Z was to get a turbo engine (probably q60) but the idea was scrapped , so it was actually going to compete with the supra if it did enter production. On another note even the GTR replacement is a mystery i guess. I am still hoping though nissan leverages the sweet 1.8 turbo alpine engine to fit in in a silvia of some sort or maybe give it the VC-T infiniti engine.

Wow!! I have been following sometime for latest updates but quit since there wasn't any news :(. Might be worth waiting for it. Never considered the 370z since it was too close to the 350z and never care for it.

Previously owned z/zx cars:

1988 300zx t-top
1994 300zx convertible
2004 350z coupe
2005 350z convertible, bought an AT with tiptronic figuring wifey could drive. Hated it and sold after 11 months.

I think if this car promises a manual and 400hp out of the box... itā€™ll not be a good thing for this BMW

Talk is cheap. How long has Nissan been going back and forth with the "next Z"? Assuming that a new Z is in the works. We haven't even seen test mules let alone a concept car. So that begs the question, when will we see it? 2023? (assuming it takes 5 years to develop)

Agreed.. talk is extremely cheap but looking at the history of things. Nissan never takes 7yrs to build a sports car like Toyota has with the Supra and 10yrs with the LFA (granted they couldnā€™t make up their mind on what the car should be).

R35 GTR didnā€™t take more than 5yrs. Also.. given that we just got official word that they are making a sequel doesnā€™t mean they just started it as well. They couldā€™ve been working on it a while now with things hush hush (example Ford with the current GT).

Yes it did. It actually took them 6 years. The first GT-R concept showed up in 2001. The production car did not debate until 2007.

Supposedly this thing has been in the works since 2012.

Lol. Ok.. 6yrs for the GTR that was in house and put super cars to shame. What does Toyota have with this BMW hand me downs? A mediocre car that may drive well and itā€™s been on the works since 2012?

Z35 has not been in development since 2102.. lol
