Silly question, but I've been pumping gas at Circle-K for a while and occasionally Speedway. Is there any risks with certain brands? They do discounts on Thursday for premium fuel. Today my station had broken normal fuel pumps so they accommodated everyone with premium fuel at the price of normal gas! Which was 3.00$ plus 20 cent discount.

Anyways, I kinda gasped when I realized the premium fuel had an octane rating of 87.... should I be slightly concerned to go somehwere else or....?

Yea, you should be sticking to the recommended octane rating. That’s what the timing is calibrated for. As far as brand, stick with the busiest station you can find. That way you know fuel is constantly moving / being replenished and not just sitting in the station’s tanks not being used.

I also go to Costco because it's cheaper and it qualifies for the Top Tier designation. Another perk is that it is always fresh gas because of the crazy volume of gas they sell everyday. The pumps (and I presume, filters) are always in good working order.

One Ethanol or Ignite.

But to answer your question, any 91 or 93 will likely be ok. Don’t use lower octane than that.
i ve been on and off this 87 octane "premium" fuel for a couple of runs. I never looked tilll now cuz premium was premium to me lol

I have a fleet account for my business through Masco Petroleum. That’s literally the only place I go, lol…

I goto Shell. In my area we have 93 octane. I found out Sunoco is bringing back 94 octane now. I will probably check it out.

I use the closest pump that isn't $0.30+ more expensive than the others.

Threads like this always surprise me.

we have 14 gallon tanks from the factory, so if you drive a lot, and the ‘more expensive’ gas station is what, $1.00/more per gallon and you’re filling up 2x a week year round, that’s what.

$1 x 14gal x2/week x 52 weeks is <$1,500 a year.

I will never under stand driving around or waiting in line to save that. Time is worth so much more. Idk. ?
