Giving a shit about shit like exhaust and vents is such a ridiculous premise. Almost as ridiculous as giving a flying fuck about things like 'heritage' or 'legacy' or whatever.

Either way, I assume this is some troll post. It's best if we all just move on.
Please check yourself Sir. That kind of common sense and rational thought is not valued here on the Intarwebs!

Have you guys seen the new Corolla GR from Toyota? How does that car have functional vents and 3 exhaust!!! Here the top of their line gets fake vents instead and a wimpy horn.. ??‍♂?

Does anyone think they’ll redesign the Supra and update those things?
Totally get your point. However, when you tell someone who’s not familiar with this car (on track for example) the price… Drumroll ?…. They are shocked ? I mean completely shocked. No offense to the Vette or Porsche fans. But they are paying at least 2x to do the same lap times we’re doing and wayyyyyyyy more for consumables. This has to be the best track bang for the buck right now, imo.

Now I don’t even notice the horn, vents, or whatever. This sucker hauls ass!!!!! Do that free track day, and use that mega savings Toyota gave us on the car for any mods you want. I still can’t believe this mofo is under $60k, weighs less than 3400 lbs, has a hard top and BMW DNA ? ?

This car is truly a gift from the car gods. They don’t come along very often… (S2K, MX5 territory)

This. So much this. I stopped doing track days several decades ago but I still AX this car and routinely spank cars that are 2 to 3 times more expensive. I considered a z51 C8 when I bought the Supra but even before the pandemic caused car prices to get stupid the Vette was going to be $30,000 more, minimum. And that's if you could get one without an additional mark up and waiting a year or more for delivery.

Same. I was looking at Porsches and used C7s in the early stages of the pandemic before prices blew up. They were all going to be more money out of the gate, more to maintain, and would have had about the same level of performance. This car also benefits from significant performance gains for comparatively smaller costs. I won't say the ceiling is higher, but you'll get to that ceiling for less money (even though the absolute amount may be "lots"). It really is one of those cars that I believe will be highly sought-after as a track car when they stop making them in a few years. I'm glad I bought my '21.

...and next week for the state-side ECU unlock! Woot!

so the thing is OP ain’t necessarily saying anything wrong cause Toyota (or GR for that matter) actually do care about the Yaris/Corolla the most, 86 next, and Supra last. The Yaris/Corolla got the most attention as a fully developed car internally at Toyota to run in WRC. The Yaris isa homogenized rally car.

I sat in a GR Yaris Rally E a few days ago and that is an absolute fail of a car. Ride height is very high and passengers over 5"10 literally don't fit because the passenger seat isn't height adjustable! The interior is cheap af also with no less than eight GR logos in it.

The GR Yaris might be quick but it highlights just how lucky we are that the label on the side of the Supra parts bin read BMW and not Toyota!

I don’t like fake vents either, but it didn’t stop me from buying a ‘22 Supra 3.0 last year. Great car! I wouldn’t replace the fake plastic vents with ones with holes because that means more water getting into the body, and air passages behind the open vents are still non existent.

The vents grab my eye from time to time - I only have a minor issue with the front fender and bumper ones because the body of the Supra is one of the (relatively) few things that was uniquely Toyota's but it was a compromise that I accept for everything else the car is. In the end, no vehicle is perfect and if some fake vents are the biggest complaint I have about one, I'd say that's pretty fantastic.

It's not a Japanese car, so not so much national love...
This. I’m pretty sure this is why Greddy does not produce any parts for the platform, which sucks because I am a diehard unapologetic GReddy/GREX/Trust fan boi.

Based on the history of the supra, I'm sure toyota knew that this would be a popular tuner car so they left a lot to be customized. If you wanted a car that had no room for improvements, the supra shouldn't have been your first choice.

How does fake vents fit into that.. it's purely style. They could have made the hood and elsewhere without them. Well hood for sure. Other areas I've to check a photoshopped image to decide.
There are hoods and fenders already out there.
