Then that should’ve been made clear.. keeping things ambiguous will lead to confusion and assumptions that’ll end up back firing like it has.
The exterior is unclear,
The interior is unclear,
The drivetrain specs are unclear.

The only thing clear about those reviews were the chassis, suspension, and supra

It Is a little disappointing to hear the Z4 appears to be the more aggressive car of the two
Out of 2 dozen reviews, only 1 of them says that.
In the real world, we call this an outlier

JDMuscle, I think Toyota's "fail" on this project was the use of the Supra nameplate to be honest.
And it finally comes out. Haters are really just whining about a badge.

Are you sad Toyota isn't providing a 2+2 GT that handles like crap from factory and is all engine. MKV isn't going to be a JDM muscle car.

The Supra name is really about an engine. An engine that was in other models.

IDK about BMW giving Toyota the S58 to throw into the new Supra or even a revised version of it. It'll possibly be the best I6 BMW has to offer. Giving it to a competitor to put in a lighter more rigid chassis for less $$$ compared to it's M2, M3, and M4 could hurt them. But then again that could explain why they still can't reveal the car.

Rumors of the S58 including an electric turbo to compete with Audi and Mercedes. The only way the Supra would get the S58, IMO, is if toyota helped develop that electric turbo/48v system.

S58 is not happening...period.
Can you tell me the winning lotto numbers for next week?

LOL what? Do you have a source on that? I've been following the details pretty closely and have never seen that. A70 said 7:40~ and pretty sure even the z4 did better than that.

Overall, I've been here for a long time. Nothing to me is more pathetic than watching grown men cry at the slightest scent of something unpleasant. Y'all rant for pages about the most absurd shit.
Sure, journalists have clocked the A90 unofficial runs around the 8 min mark. The Z4 did 7:55:41. Considering it's been confirmed they share a platform and drivetrain, it makes logical sense to conclude that the Supra will do similar times.

Unless of course you're inferring that suspension and engine tunes alone can make up for a 15 second swing in time...nevermind that 15 seconds is the difference between a 2.5L 366HP 4 cylinder cayman S and a 3.8L 475 HP 991 911 GT3

It would be funny that the supra turn with a simple b58 z4 for the development and for the prodution toyota put the s58 :popcorn: than explain many things :dunno:

if you are implying that the mkiv handled like crap and was only the engine , you are wrong . Also it is not a matter of personal opinion that the car held the world record for braking up until carrera gt came (beautiful car btw). The handling is more debatable than the "the car is only engine" but then again for the handling part you have to compare it to other cars of its era like skyline r33 or some porsches and ferraris that were the benchmarks of the era maybe, i believe you will be surprised but anyway. For the 2+2 is purely objective, i prefer 2+2 because i can't afford to buy a track toy for 50k or 60k, for me a 2 seater car is comparable to a motorcycle , a fast motorcycle is faster than a car in a track, easier to get out of traffic. I am hoping though the new supra will surprise me , this is the only reason i am staying in this forum , i am not positive nor negative in any way , i am waiting to sit inside the car and then judge for myself , if it is a good car then yay if it is not whatever there are other options.

I hope the B58 will come in a mid level trim, it will definitely be great option for cheap modding without breaking the bank.

My guess is the tiers would stack B48(not in american markets) -> B58 -> S58(GR model)

That would be awesome to have an S58 in the line up along with a manual. Just don’t have faith in toyota to do that though.

I forgot to mention, BMW wont be bringing manuals to the US except in the 2 series and M3/M4 models in new cars. If this car has the S58 like the m3/m4, a manual is a possibility. But Toyota can't say that until BMW says the it
So much for this being a “joint” collaboration huh?

All the important things in a car, the things people look for when buying a sports car are unfortunately dictated by BMW on this project. Not sure what Toyota can offer differently to set the MKV apart from the Z4 to make it attractive to sports car buyers in the ~$55k range. I am sure a manual transmission was originally part of the vision, but because BMW said no....Toyota said no.

I think the joint collaboration is greater than these two cars. Let me explain... BMW builds this car and Toyota does some tweaks to it (given what we know.. it’s seems that way). Toyota in turn will give BMW hybrid tech that’ll be used elsewhere and not in these two cars.

So we are left with a BMW Zupra that has Toyota designed body panels and some tweaks to suspension and motor.
