Comp claims shouldn't............. Unless you have a really really shitty insurance company. With USAA it for sure wouldn't. I've had it happen.
I asked people that work in insurance, and they told me insurances will definitely jack up your rates with comp. Don't know if it's different in every state, but at least for here in Florida, they told me to not open a comp claim on my hit because I'll definitely get screwed :(

You pay for insurance - I say use it. If your rates go up later, shop around. I regret not using insurance in my past due to fear of rate increases. And when I got over that and have used it, it was painless.

Also, rates (especially in Florida) will go up anyways. Just shop around regularly, and use it when you need it.

I'm super paranoid about this stuff... Ever since my previous car got keyed and my other car was hit without any notice while parked. For nicer cars I will almost never park for too long and somewhat start getting anxious if cars are right up my ass.
Gotta invest in a dashcam to capture everything. Any one got any recommendations?

I thought about this for a long time as well and personally reached the conclusion: "will installing a dashcam stop a douche keying my car or dooring it" No.
So I'd rather not have it at all with the room it takes and all the hassle/cables.
Likewise, say you decide to run it continously, jeopardise your battery, and you get ever so lucky to catch "a face" on the recording maybe, then what? Are you gonna go batman mode and look for the guy and kill them? Report it to the police? Don't know how law enforcement is in US but in Shitty Europe / UK, police are barrly interested, bother to do anything if someone gets killed, if I send them my clip of my dear expensive Supra getting keyed I will just get some bullshit condescending answer, the video will be archived, never to be heard back again. Root cause led me to the conclusion: no matter how many dashcams I put in the car, the result is the same:
- I will be furious.
- I will 99% be the one paying for the repair anyway.
- I might be so angry I'll just sell the Supra altogether.
IMO spend the cash on ppf to at least have a fighting hope of reducing damage.

If you still wanna go ahead, NextBase dashcams are great quality.

I feel your pain! Ppl do suck. I took delivery Sunday of my Strat blue manual and traded my 21 in and when leaving work today someone keyed the heck out of my car on both sides

are you sure it’s not adhesive residue from the delivery wrap? I still have mine on the same spots

My car had ppf from the dealership and it looks similar to this.
In my case, it's just dirt showing on the edge of the ppf.
These marks on your car are in a perfectly straight line except for the bottom part of the second picture.

I hope you're mistaken and someone wasn't that mean to you at random.

yeah man I wish. It’s been a headache. Progressive wanted me to go to a local collision center for repair and they finally caved and it’s headed to a BMW dealer to the south of me. The BMW shop is confident they can paint match. I went with BMW bc it appears Stratosphere is close if not the same as their factory Portimao blue for the 2/3/4 series. Fingers crossed they get it matched given the obvious locations.
