correct. And i may be blunt at times... but also can apologize for my portion of confusion.

i would absolutely love the increased power and potential of the s58 on the road tracks.

I have driven the supra platform at its limits handling and power wise (stock and mild tune) I can flat pedal it through large sections of VIR for example.
there are LOTS of better skilled drivers for sure! But i am throwing it around pretty aggressively.

1/4 mile debates/discussion- im out. not my thing, not my wheelhouse.

Nothing new here (as expected). As ive said before, R&D efforts are not in the direction of the evolution of the A90/91 platform. Nissan did do this with the R35 and from conception to current state the R35 did see drastic changes. This will not be the case with the A90/91.

The new platform is where I believe the most efforts are being spent....whatever that new platform is ;).

Everyone saw that wing on the 2024 A91.

2025 might get a front lip and some more stickers on the outside at this rate.

I think this platform is done in terms of factory upgrades.

That is a drawback of being a shared platform and especially since the other version of the car isn't selling at all.

Nah. I'd bet a not insignificant amount of money that a) the manual was already planned well before the Nissan offerings and b) the release had more to do with mid-life sales boost than anything any other company was doing. Where car enthusiasts see a "fight," corporations are just chasing dollars. Don't believe the hype!

Fast forward to 10:13. Toyota was "monitoring" the market which to me says they were wanting to see what Nissan did. And yes I agree, manufacturers only care about their profits and shareholders.

s58 > b58
I have driven the b58 to its absolute limits and I could use more.

I like the b58, I CAN drive, and I want more. The S58 could provide more.
M2 CS coming soon. This is the problem with a shared platform. BMW will not give Toyota it's S58 so it can steal it's sales.

M2 CS coming soon. This is the problem with a shared platform. BMW will not give Toyota it's S58 so it can steal it's sales.
LCI then the M2CS-- M2CS is not really super close nor has it been announced at all(test models are out but not confirmed as to what platform variant it might be assume M2 of course). The S58 was never going to be provided to Toyota. Its an M-platform only powerplant.

should consumers be worried about this new platform? i want to add that the Supra is affordable

As you know, a good part of the reason the R35 is still being developed is to recuperate costs.

It was developed pre-GFC so it consumed a lot of money... Have to try and get that back/milk it as much as practical.

Toyota also said the Supra's fake vents were functional.

You proved my point. Earlier I mentioned Toyota counter punched Nissan Z's release with their 6MT Supra release to retain consumer's attention. There are no such things are coincidences in life.
