Why? Our cars are still better.
Agreed. It doesn't matter what Nissan does, an old chassis is AN OLD FUCKING CHASSIS. It'll never compete with the J29.

It would still be nice to see a hotter version of the Supra from the factory. Iā€™m not at all impressed by the 45th Anniversary edition that Toyota showed yesterday. It actually made me think the MKV Supra is starting to show itā€™s age, being out 3 or 4 years already.

The only people who think the Z is punching in the Supra's weight division are Z owners - sometime before the Z was actually road tested.

The Nismo might catch up some but I doubt it will come close to surpassing the Supra as it stands.

Sure, it's nice to think a Nismo might spur Toyota into releasing the mythical GRMN, but the reality is that we care about that kind of tit-for-tat response far more than car companies do.

This is like watching a fight. Toyota only released the 6MT to steal thunder from the Z. Nismo is coming out then likely Toyota will release this GRMN with the S58 engine in it. My concern would be how many being made and how much. The M4 CSL with the S58 goes for like $143,000. Unless they detune it like the M2.

Too many
Nismo 370Z and Nismo GTR werenā€™t really limited editions. People who wants to pay up can walk into a dealership and order ir even buy one off the show room.

The beef I have with all the GRMN cars (Morizo Edition included) is they are super limited for no good reasons other than a marketing publicity.

i donā€™t look forward to a GRMN Supra because nobody realistically can get their hands on one.

i would rather GR up the performance on the current Supra or release a stripped version of the Supra (coil overs instead of active dampers, lighter sports seatsā€¦etc). I will be much more excited with the above than a GRMN car

Still can't understand why some people are obsessed with having a S58 in this car. To all the people that wants a S58 engine in this car simply cannot drive. Drive this car hard enough and you'll see the B58 performs incredible & has potential. On the other side the new B58 I could understand possibly being available to this car.

Nah. I'd bet a not insignificant amount of money that a) the manual was already planned well before the Nissan offerings and b) the release had more to do with mid-life sales boost than anything any other company was doing. Where car enthusiasts see a "fight," corporations are just chasing dollars. Don't believe the hype!

^^ This.

A manual Supra MKV was intended/planned all along... but just not until a couple of model years after release as a way to keep sales and interest up rather than give every option everyone wants up front but with few to no updates or big changes for the entire model run.

They didn't make any groundbreaking changes to the Supra MKIV Turbo once it was released in 1993 until its discontinuation in 2002 (Japan) other than that the turbo engine gained a VVT-i technical update (in the Japanese market only).

This time around Toyota appears to want to trickle out all the most desirable hardware throughout the entire model run.
