There’s been confirmation of an S58 for a while now. Probably not going to be a production model though. I would pick up one 100% if the S58 came in a special edition.

Ah I see, you're referring to the X3 M and X4 M.
At that time it was probably on sale in those two models, yes. I'm not very familiar with the BMW line outside of their M coupes and sedans. That particular Tetsuya Tada interview was from about two years ago, I think. I believe it was originally from a Japanese car new outlet like Bestcar.

Imagine a re-worked head on the B58…..wouldn’t that be amazing? :hmm:
Now that WOULD be amazing. With a different turbo setup and fuel system as well if they're going that far. I'd expect Yamaha to be involved in the head design if this were to be the case.

Like head swap?
I’m “thinking” something more rev happy, with different cam profile, valves (high temp), exhaust port flow, and (possibly) a factory water injection. Ehhh….but do I know.

Oh lord this is basically the M4 GTS treatment.

EDIT: WAIT. Does that mean it will get the S55? I would really want the B58 to have water injection though.

Likely will be the next gen of the B58, there is a "B58TU2" coming out that will have direct and port injection along with a redesigned manifold/water2air cooler. Would remove the need to get Motiv Reflex and injector plate. Just a bigger set of injectors and maybe LPFP at most.

Port injection is much more efficient for low rpms tuning and will keep the intake/valves from building up gunk with the benefit of better lowend response and less emissions. Direct will still be the powerhouse while providing better cooling. Dual means the direct sytem would also be able to tap into the port injectors for assistance whenever it needs even more juice!

Really the only downside would be more parts, weight, cost and complexity to the engine.
