I have to agree that 45-55k is what makes far more sense... if the car is much over that by even a little, it becomes a huge issue due to competition, but that's assuming conservative performance figures.

The rumors of the 60k+ price tag also came from sources I do not consider to be as reliable as Tada telling me his target was 55k last summer. That said, pricing is set according to market by marketing and sales so.

A70 - a few months back, there was some chatter indicating that Toyota may have been developing their own Motor for a higher trim Supra. Since then, I think those rumors were debunked, or you decided that your US sources may have not been legitimate. Fast foward to today and the new rumors that Toyota may have their own special edition serialized car, do you think thereā€™s any truth to what we heard before? Iā€™m trying to figure out what would break the internet, and a new motor from Toyota would certainly do that.

You probably canā€™t divulge anything in regards to this, so thatā€™s fine. My only concern is that Toyota eithwr waits too long to release this special edition car, or takes too long to announce it, which as other members have mentioned, could affect the special edition cars potential release if itā€™s based on sales for the lower trim A90.

I definitely don't have all the details, more just high level summaries on what's being developed. It's tough to definitively answer your questions due to that and being discouraged from expanding on details before GR does.

The special cars were always planned though; the specific timing of release however is still not something I'm aware of.

Right on. Do you think the US has a fair shot at getting these special cars? Iā€™m assuming theyā€™d be labled as GR cars, and weā€™ve never gotten anything like that. Letā€™s face it, they can give us TRD version, but we all know how bogus the TRD versions of cars are in the US lol, no offense.

Why are you in such a hurry to find out??? Are you about to make a impulse purchase or something?? I guess what I'm saying is, does it matter if you know now or say 10 months from now?? The car won't be available tomorrow if you find out today. Best thing to do is hold tight and be patient....that't what I'm doing and I didn't even want a MKV Supra remember??

A70TTR is right, and I whole heartily agree with him....it seems as though these "serialized" cars have been part of the big picture from the get go. My source said the same thing to me, in terms of giving too much info before Toyota does. I respect that, and as I said before it would probably be better if it came from Toyota themselves to add to the excitement.

Toyota seems to be tackling this from all angles, basically "a Supra for everyone." They want everyone to enjoy some version of this car, whether it be a 4cyl, 6cyl, single turbo, twin turbo, etc... I will say though, I think the "special" cars will be "unobtainium" for a bit at least until the smoke clears.

By no means am I looking to get the car tomorrow. You could say Iā€™m overly excited for sure. I do have a plan to get a car (and have budgeted to do so) by early spring/next summer. Whether I jump the gun and do that, or wait for Toyota to bring out this special car is what Iā€™m trying to figure out. I just donā€™t want it to be one of those things where we have to wait years for this car. Call me impatient lol ;)

Time will tell. The US market is a little harder to judge IMO, but I've always thought the US is likely to get a higher performance trim (a TRD car so to speak). The question is not really if but when as Performance noted.

The real question is if there are a few higher performance GR cars, will the US get those? I would bet the answer is no.

The 65k is what will be drawing maximum attention if it can match a Cayman GTS at least in performance, fun per dollar at least. Now, a Supra giving a Cayman GT4 hell at 65 ish k, oof, sign me up.
:agree:
This is all I want for Christmas...
