I was 0.6sec slower, But I attribute that to the tires. They were getting hot and I was sliding more. I probably would have lost even more time but I was getting better at my driving line. The car felt slightly down on power, but I think it was actually because I didn't have the tires pulling me around as well.@kaj were you having power issues at the track? If so, all sessions or just the 3rd?
E85 won't do anything to make IAT's cooler as that is measured pre cylinder, and that is the big thing that reduces torque request.I was 0.6sec slower, But I attribute that to the tires. I ran a bit of e85 in the pump gas to keep things cool.
I remember you telling me that before, but I forgot. I guess detonation isn't really an issue since it reduces power everywhere else. That does make me happy not to have to worry about going to the e85 station.E85 won't do anything to make IAT's cooler as that is measured pre cylinder, and that is the big thing that reduces torque request.
Airbox -> Turbo Inlet -> Charge pipe (pre-manifold temp sensor) -> Intake manifold intercooler -> post intake manifold intercooler (Post-manifold temp sensor, IAT in loggers) -> Cylinders
Since the intake manifold has it's own radiator setup separate from the engine and turbo, the engine temp has little to no bearing on it's performance. I guess the indirect heat from the engine in the engine bay can and will heat soak the Mani-cooler but I doubt E20 or so would have much effect on overall engine temp.
I was going to say I felt no power drop on my car the entire day. Maybe its the sweet Velossa cold air tube I run haha. My tires never got greasy either. Maybe cause I run 315s?I was 0.6sec slower, But I attribute that to the tires. They were getting hot and I was sliding more. Oh, for good timing and such, it will help. You mentioned cooling so I was talking about that. I had much cleaner timing with E20 on stock tune. However I am higher compression and the 2020's run like 14.3-14.6 AFR at WOT all the time. The 21+ has lower compression and the AFRs richen up much more on track.I remember you telling me that before, but I forgot. Probably. I drive the living hell out of the 275s. On the bright side, I have perfect wear on all four corners. Normally, I'd be flipping tires around due to camber wear. Not driving on the street probably helps.I was going to say I felt no power drop on my car the entire day. Maybe its the sweet Velossa cold air tube I run haha. My tires never got greasy either. Yeah, I guess I imagine the combustion chamber being cooler when more ethanol/water/N2O/etc is added, so tend to say "run cooler" blah blah ?Oh, for good timing and such, it will help. Ditto ^^^^ I flip tires maybe once near the end and can squeeze out one more track day. wear across the tires is almost perfect w my set up
I'm at about -3 degrees on my car that I track and DD, and I'm not really noticing any camber wear. The toe-in in the rear is causing accelerated wear.I have to find a camber I can live with daily and on the track. My alignment kit arrives today
How many laps to heat soak now vs earlier?Mine made a good difference. Running the open air MAP CAI and my IATs dropped about 20F during the summer thus far - not scientific but seems pretty consistent. Car seems to also heat soak slower - I’m Catted
not laps, rather just driving in 106F texas. IATs always stay around 120-130now - last summer in lesser heat I was always stressed seeing 140s+How many laps to heat soak now vs earlier?
