You all should really be data logging when tracking if you have questions about "is the car dropping power because of high IAT's or not, and if so, when and how?"

Ah. I'm not worried about temps around town, etc. I posted in this part of the forum strictly for track day info. Seems that it technically helps, but only a couple degrees and only for a few laps.not laps, rather just driving in 106F texas. IATs always stay around 120-130now - last summer in lesser heat I was always stressed seeing 140s+

For an entire session? A certain number of laps?I do not know how accurate the temp numbers are within JB4, but after I installed the Verus Engineering heat shield my IAT went down around 5 C on average. I am running the AMS Performance Carbon Air Intake and charge pipe for reference.

130C!!! You have bigger issues if you are seeing 130C. Car would be in limp mode. Me thinks you aren't logging Manifold Air Temps.Session (20 mins), or even a spirited drive. I haven't seen my IATs higher than 130C since installing it.

Not a dumb question. You aren't keeping the heat IN the turbo, you're just trying to reduce radiant heat to other parts.I have a dumb question…
Assuming a heat shield works, does it then mean the turbo is running hotter where it could shorten its life?
Verus is generally pretty good about backing up their products with testing and showing actual data and according to them it does help, in the real world how much who knows, it is going to be like having a better manifold or using meth for cooling, but one thing it won't do is hurt, plus it looks nice and if any of you have ever driven your cars hard you know how much heat accumulates in that area especially if you are NOT catless ( my catless 2020 never generated as much heat in that area) and with my open box hks I need all the help I can get from avoiding heat soak so its a thumbs up from me.
The arguments I hear from people pertain as to whether or not there's any damage to the turbine housing with the increased temperatures. There are claims that "warpage", for lack of better terminology, occurs resulting in oil loss and possible fire. All based on a discussion with a group of us had trying to figure out why an acquaintance's car burst into flames for no apparent reason. Long story.there is a college journal article that was done on turbo blankets. I can’t think of which school it came from, but they go into a lot of technical detail on the subject. Let me see if I can find it for you.
