Hey guys,

I was messing around with bimmercode earlier and after finishing the coding, I restarted the car. It started as a cold start and I could hear a distinct whistling under the driver left side portion of the hood, almost like a turbo spooling. It quiets down once the car is idling, but it’s definitely still there.

I’ve never noticed this noise before today, is this normal? My car is bone stock under the hood. If you listen carefully, you can hear it distinctly in the beginning of the engine bay clip

messing around, how? what did you change.
Turned on the memory function for auto start/stop, startup in sport individual, and mirror tilt 40%

Weird then, I don't have any experience with this sorry, but the only thing that could change the sound would be the permanently open valve in sport individual - does the whistle stop after the revs have dropped to normal post cold-start?

It's probably the electric water pump. At any rate, this is perfectly normal.

I did pull the fuse for the valve but put it back since my car just stopped burbling completely. And the whistle sound has subsided by a lot in the past day, but I do still notice it when accelerating. Honestly just sounds like it’s the turbo at this point.

the first video sounds like your throttle valve duty cycle, since you Recoded and pulled a fuse I wonder if the idle control has to relearn this could cause the duty cycle to increase and the motor be louder than normal , or like THRAXBERT said could also be something like a electronic water pump.

could also have an increased awareness since you were playing with the car and are noticing something completely normal.

This is a bit of a late reply, I just saw this, but I actually noticed this exact same sound in my car and had also made a post about it the other day. Based on replies on my post as well, it seems that other people are experiencing the same high-pitched whine coming from their engine bay closer to the driver's side. Not entirely sure where exactly the sound is coming from though, unfortunately.

The noise seems to have subsided now, I honestly think it was just due to the ecu updating after I recoded certain things via bimmercode
