The car has a KY rebuilt title that was just issued, the Carfax you posted clearly has misinformation, the car was in my possession in Kentucky when they reported that mileage. The car was sold at auction on 6/18/22 to me. That dealership definitely didn't do "an oil change" on 8/13/22. I would bet someone put in the wrong vin somehow.

Like others are saying, there sure are a lot of odd things going on with this car with little to no answers. Saying the carfax is wrong is yet another one.

This is not just my opinion, a good amount of people are going to see a lot of red flags with this.

Carfax errors aren't uncommon.. it clearly isn't accurate.

IF the car is an A91 edition then the interior parts missing I understand may turn some people away. I wouldn't say its sketchy, just sucks the parts aren't there.

Fair price would be around $35-$40k. It’s just the salvage title puts a damper on things and some insurance companies wouldn’t even touch it and if they did, you are paying more!!

Beautiful ride regardless. Good luck with sale!!

Maybe it's state-dependent, but I've been told it's cheaper to insure a salvage title car. My coworker does that and the insurance covers liability only.

Thank you ! We will see what the car ends up selling for.

I have never had any issues insuring rebuilt title cars, full coverage even. It could be state dependent for sure I don't know.

When I checked with my allstate agent before buying a salvage/rebuilt car, here's the direct quote:

"Allstate will only insure a vehicle that has been salvaged (total loss) for liability coverage only. If you add a car that has been a total loss and is technically a salvaged vehicle, I can't add it with full coverage. If it's unclear that the car was a salvage and you add it with full coverage, Allstate could deny payment if they were to find out that it was in fact a salvage.

I will have to follow Allstate's rules if I were to add the car to the policy. I hope this makes sense. "

So my take is that you can probably buy full coverage, if you're able to get a washed title from a state that doesn't care. But now you're at the intersection of "fuck around and find out" if you get into an accident.

I’m sure it just depends on the insurance company, I have had full coverage with both Progressive and State Farm on rebuilt vehicles in the past, I was told they just won’t payout the clean title vehicle value in a total loss situation. They have their own ways of determining the rebuilt title cars value.

I’d assume most people looking to save money and get a rebuilt title vehicle would also be looking to save money on insurance and just get liability anyways. Every insurance company I’ve seen will insure the car just some may not do a full coverage payout situation.

Also your quote mentioned “If you add a car that has been a total loss and is technically a salvaged vehicle, I can't add it with full coverage.” It seems as if the agent was talking about a salvage title car not a “Rebuilt” title car.

Bump Bump Bump

Had a buyer who is potentially backing out to buy a BMW, so the car is available again to anyone interested.

Will take $42k for the car if sold soon !

Thanks to everyone who has been interested.

My MX5 has a salvage title and is fully insured by Mercury Ins. I was told the payout value of a total loss would be 50-60% of the same car with a clean title, all other things being considered.
