I feel for you mate. I kicked and screamed and my dealer was like.. we'll see what we can do. So I began kicking and screaming with Toyota Australia. Boy, if you think the people at your dealer are idiots, wait till you talk to anyone on the Toyota Australia customer support line! It took multiple calls but eventually it got escalated to a point where someone called back and said something along the lines of it's not our usual process.. blah blah.. but they would not fit the plate.I tried being a squeaky wheel but didn’t get the grease unfortunately.
As for the sales guy.. he was pretty good but he only took me seriously when I told him I'd defect the car if it had a front plate mounted to it.
It's that stupid Victorian delivery centre. Basically you have to get your car on some kind of do not molest list. At the time mine was delivered I discovered that a) not all Victorian dealers go through this centre (might no longeer be true) and b) dealers are very reluctant to contact/intervene with this centre's work.Frustrating for sure. It's not like you are asking them to do something additional you're actually asking them to do less and they save the time.
Wait till you take her in for a service or warranty work. Nobody at these places has a fucking clue about our cars. It's like it was a BMW with a Toyota badge slapped on it just to reduce the sticker price. The complete lack of effort was mind blowing.
Honestly, nothing surprises me any more when it comes to Toyota Australia.
Absolute shitshow.
