Even if the pure performs a bit better, the reliability of pure is terrible.
I haven’t been in the game for a while, but has pure fallen off that much? They were decent back when I had a F30 335i. At this rate, I might just max out the stock turbo on PI and build the transmission.

Not sure how they were back in the day, but as of this moment, they are notorious for leaky turbo seals.

I’ve had this happen to me on my P850, and as well as numerous other people on their own pure turbos.

i have zero hope for the p900 lmao

Where’s the actual evidence on this, though? I know this was a thing a few years ago, but I haven’t heard of any stories like this recently.

it’s because people run way too much boost and insane levels of backpressure with tiny turbos.

Journal bearing can’t take huge thrust loads and are more sensitive to oil weight and pressure as well.

basically if you run a tiny hybrid over 600whp you’re seriously reducing it’s life/reliability.

it’s like saying b58 isn’t a reliable motor because stock blocks eventually blow up when you run them at 800whp.

you push the limit and things will break.

From your lips to god's ears, @kyle9. I'm still mystified how stuffed JB turbos became a go-to option on this platform. They're just not very good, and they're being sold at prices comparable to significantly more durable CBB turbos.

This is my car that was featured at CES. If anyone has any questions, i'm happy to answer. I've only got two drives down so far, i'm sure there will be some kinks to work out.
I’m happy you posted here.

How many hours of install did it take them for the omega 65?
How long did it take to get your omega 65 once ordered?

Order took longer than i would have liked to be perfectly honest. I'm not sure exactly why but he was waiting on the manifold parts but had everything else boxed up and ready when i ordered it. It probably took a good 3-4 weeks to receive it from the time i ordered it. I'm not sure if that's normal or if he typically has fully stocked completed kits to send out at time of order (probably the latter but this may have been an outlier). This was just my experience. Everything showed up well packaged and nothing was damaged.

Since it's a stock location swap, i believe most folks have been doing these in somewhere between 2-10 hours, longer if it's the first time but to the best of my knowledge, they knocked out the turbo swap and installed all 4 upgraded CSF coolers in 2 days, the remaining days were spent on tuning. CES could probably more definitively answer this though.

Yes, I understand your points that you’ve made. But I was asking the person whom I replied to for specific examples of Pure turbos failing recently, where the evidence behind the reason the turbo failed was conclusive.

I know about a half dozen drivers using pure800s on track cars. One blew while running 42psi at the end of last season at Laguna. One blew two weeks ago at COTA.

actually, those are the only two people I personally know who were tracking their cars on pure800s.

so 2 out of 2 blew when running 670-700whp.

Remnant lists the O65 as a " Billet Dual Ceramic BB Turbo " on their website.

That's my point. People are buying stuffed journal bearing turbos and there are options on the market, like Remnant, that are significantly more durable with ceramic BB center cartridges.

When the larger housing is available, there really isn’t going to be a reason to buy any other kit than the Remnant (hybrid or full frame) unless you are trying to make over 1000whp.

DAW turbos are journal bearing right?
