The Polar Express is a pretty good movie. This pays a great tribute to that and it's pretty funny. Though it needs to be big enough so all of the wording can be seen.
The engineer drifts a whole goddam train. On Ice. #Legend.

They're all doing it now.

The latest TRD 8ARFTS uses it and it's fine. It might not be as ideal for performance as it is for cost and efficiency, but that's the way it goes.

Indeed. Honda uses it for their Civic Type R engine, Ford, GM, Infiniti, etc.

The only thing that concerns me is where the safe thermal threshold will be when running far higher boost than stock. I know that there are water cooling passages around the integrated manifold but at a certain high stress point, since it is a cast part of an aluminum cylinder head, is it not theoretically possible to cause warpage? Or is this not a common occurence in real world high performance scenarios?

I mean there's going to be a limit, but it's going to be way up there 700+, which honestly shouldn't be a concern to Toyota because that's twice the output of the engine.

People hate the future, but it's arriving quickly none the less... I'd personally rather complain about EV and emissions, etc before I complain about that.

Let's play a drinking game. Every single time he says "guys" just have a nice shot of vodka. You'd be dead after 2 minutes.

I have a response to all of this. Do people not realize Toyota has a "bigger baby" (haha sounds funny when you say that), in the works? The Supra hasn't been pushed down or anything, but there is something greater above the Supra that's coming in the next few years. The Toyota GR Super Sport. Now that, they've been doing everything on their own. Engineering, design, R&D, costs, literally everything is all Toyota. Bad news? It will probably cost over a million dollars.

Exactly, the GR Super Sport is where it's at

Honestly I'm not really dissatisfied with the head using the integrated manifold if it can easily handle 700hp+. Even for 1JZ and 2JZ cars someone will be investing considerable money to hit that figure reliably, not to mention upgrading the internals to suit. If the current cylinder head can do that with the improvements in efficiency it's going to be good. I only touched on it because I know out of the gate people are going to want to modify this engine for much more boost and fuel than stock.

Plus, for traditional exhaust ports there is always the other BMW B58 cylinder head from the 382hp versions that can be bolted on... or the upcoming GRMN/Yamaha head. Those cylinder heads ought to be able to handle even higher power levels.

Emissions and EV's... it's going to be sad that cool things will be lost as model years go on but it's a giant snowball in motion already. However going into the future personally I'm not against electric but it is the *implementation* of EV's as currently being touted as non-driver or performance oriented things without steering wheels that really bothers me. That I don't understand. I get the powertrain shift but not the jettisoning of the concept of what a good or fun car actually is in the first place.

Conversely I have seen a very, very, very few companies get a formula for a good EV mostly right... and it's not Tesla or a manufacturer's "mobility" division who are doing an EV right.

Anyway, back to the present (and the MKV)...

For now we're still in a good window for interesting things with the current technology and that's why I more or less expect manufacturers to try all the unique niche stuff they can while they still can. Hence this car, a manual variant and the GRMN and other Toyota/Lexus sports models.

Due to high blood pressure, my doctor advised me to wear a douche-cancelling helmet. For some reason, as soon as I clicked on that video, the visor went dark and the headphones cut out. Weird...
You need to see a new doctor...
