Hey Guys- I am an old guy who needs an AT because of orthopedic issues have ended my stick shift career.
I go back to the muscle car age.
Anyhow I just traded in my M240x I bought last year for a 2024 GR Supra premium AT.
Pics should be attached.

Loved my M240x but I did not need it since I bought a practical sedan for the family so was thinking time to get back in a sports car.
Was between G87M2 and Supra even though different cars.
For all the hate the G87 gets it is a crown jewel. Yes its heavy but my time in it showed it to me a precision machine that I am sure on the track is a weapon.
However I can’t see the “around town street difference” that much between the Supra with its BMW B58 and the true M car with its S58. I am not saying there is not a difference but I won’t be exploring it anyway. Could be wrong.

Anyhow the Supra is just awesome looking vs M2. Again I don’t hate the looks of G87 M2 but it is bland frankly.
The Supra- my Gosh is just terrific looking.

Anyhow in my brief drive home around some highway bends and street driving reinforced the huge difference between the Supra and the M240x.
Everyone said- “Oh the M240x is the Supra with AWD.” No not at all- same engine but two different cars. Both are GREAT but different purposes.

Hey I won’t be a frequent poster but used to be on the MKIV forum after I bought a new red TT one back in 1997. Paid $42K for it and sold it 7 years later for the same. Probably could have gotten more from it. Now they are very expensive.

Best!

Congrats, as well! I'm an old guy, too but perhaps not as old as you are. I bought an auto Supra because I knew I would use it on occasion with my wife in the passenger seat. When she's there, I turn on Sirius XM's Easy listening channel and drive mostly sedately. We often have a couple of cups of coffee to sip on when in the car. In addition, the radar cruise really comes in handly for trips outside our area.

And I agree 100% that the Supra is far more noticeable compared to BMW sedans or coupes. Some people want to be incognito on the road. I don't unless I'm going somewhere that is likely to include tight/scarce parking.
Lastly, My MX5 PRHT has a manual transmission, so no need for a manual Supra.

100% agree. I even went and looked at a M4 Coupe before I bought the Supra they are just different cars and they feel different. The experience behind the wheel of the supra is totally different.

It is great you haven’t given up the fun due to some physical changes in your life.

I plan to continue to break her in gently and I still haven’t really opened her up yet, but I already have seen how fun she is and how she will handle everything In throw at her.

Been wondering how the M240 with the B58 compared to our Supra. Appreciate you confirming the 4 seater was guided in a more comfort direction. I think Akio Toyoda did a fantastic job giving the Supra a more track oriented setup from the get go.

Also, love the clean look of yours! Welcome to the club ✌?

I'm probably the oldest guy driving a Mk5. Only auto when I bought it, but at my age (86), I've learned to love the 8 speed. My biggest problem is my wife, who at 85 is having a fair amount of trouble getting in and out.

Well, I have to admire you for being strong enough to climb in and out of your Supra. Many older folks are forced to buy SUVs, particularly for their ease of entry. My workout routine includes leg squats and lunges, as well as extensions and curls so that I can drive such a low-slung sportscar for many years to come.

I work out every day. Run 3 days(pretty feeble), Bike 2 days, and Weights 2 days. I also do squats and lots of crunches. My tombstone is gonna say, "He never owned a four door"
