Yeah not normal. I own a 2021 & I don't consume oil ever and i'm roughly at 12k miles. The manual obviously states some oil consumption is normal but you're beyond that

Remember to do this while the car is on and idling at full operating temp, on level ground.3. Set up bimmerlink to begin documenting precise oil level after each drive
So u didnt read the manual for break in periodI have a 21 and don’t burn any oil and I mainly use it at the track. Have just shy of 10k miles. I’m tuned and run E. I drove it nice for 200 miles then beat it like a red headed step child ever since. I also think some of this is over done and people are mixing up the amount of oil to add during changes litres and quarts.
I read it and disregarded it. And zero issuesSo u didnt read the manual for break in period
Same. Why I was thinking about that thin CAFE standard 0w-20 oil. I didn’t have that stuff in my car long after purchase.I read it and disregarded it. And zero issues
I had the dealer do a free oil change at 1200 and then at 3000 miles I went to 5w30 liquimolySame. Why I was thinking about that thin CAFE standard 0w-20 oil. I didn’t have that stuff in my car long after purchase.
Since I'm in Florida, I've been considering changing to a thicker viscosity.Same. Why I was thinking about that thin CAFE standard 0w-20 oil. I didn’t have that stuff in my car long after purchase.
I’ve been using a BMW LL-01 approved oil - Motul 8100 X-cess (5w30) to be specific. 5w40 would work as well. edyvw is my fav contributor (site below). He does this for a living. Dude is open minded, considers different conditions, fuels, etc. I’m running standard 93 octane.Since I'm in Florida, I've been considering changing to a thicker viscosity.
What weight did you jump to and brand?
I'm a fan of Liquimolly but have been running the 0w-20.
Cheers
I agree with Phil
I know the forum is a great resource, but googling this usually brought up better results. In OTHER B58 manuals it says burning a 1/2-1qt is aight every 1000-1200 miles, especially if you're driving it hard at all.Hi,
Recently purchased a Gold certified pre owned 2021 supra. Within 2000 miles of ownership, from having a full oil reading, I received low oil light. I then replaced 1 qt, drove for a week, then brought it to the dealership for a full service. I then drive 1400 miles, and have burned 1/2 a quart. The total mileage is ~13,000. I believe this is severe oil consumption, and I have not dealt with the process of lemon law, or engine/car replacement from Toyota. Can someone point me to resources for how to handle this
Thanks
Phil
