I wanna ask, this coparison has its variable, which is that of time, partnership, manufacturer, and the raw product. Mkiv to what it was that day and mkv to what it is today. Supra. Was that thing a wow, like a must have sort of thing? Was it something everyone craved for, lusted of and was it really all that special comparatively to what the mkiv is today? Did it have anything ground breaking? (no, don't mention the potency of 2j). I'm asking the stock product. People want the mkv to be some sort of godly thing that it isn't, so far also, I personally don't think the mkiv was that special back on its years of production. Please do correct me if I'm wrong and please, don't mind tl;dr. Tiniest details could make the biggest differences.

The mkiv supra stock was faster than many cars above its class.

Can the new one claim any such feat?

I still find it hard to believe the car hit a 4.6s 0-60, especially after reading this article from 97. Of course this is all word of mouth but interesting.

https://www.motortrend.com/news/performance-trends-mustang-comparison/

Although the Supra Turbo's sequentially turbocharged 3.0-liter DOHC inline-six is still rated at 320 horsepower, this was the softest-performing six-speed Supra Turbo we've tested. Its 5.4-second 0-60-mph acceleration was a full half-second off the best we've recorded (with a prototype '94) and only 0.2 second quicker than an automatic-equipped '94. Its 13.8-second, 104.0-mph quarter-mile time was 0.4 second and 2.7 mph off that of the '94.

Subjectively, the '97 lacked the low-end punch of previous Supra Turbos. Some of this can be blamed on the sport roof's additional weight, but also a Toyota spokesman admitted the '94 prototypes were stronger than production versions. All handling numbers fell below previous current-generation Supra Turbos, though the car is still shod with Michelin Pilot SX MXX3s. On the skidpad it produced 0.91 g, down from a high of 0.98 g. Its 117-foot 60-0-mph stopping distance was 8.0 feet longer than its previous best, while a 68.2-mph run through the slalom cones was 0.8 mph off the top Supra Turbo performance.
They achieved a 5.4s 0-60, which states being half a second than the stronger 94 prototypes at 4.9s 0-60.

That’s actually a decent response ;)

Only thing I will say is that in the U.K. the prices are different and as I’ve said before this does make the A90 more attractive in the states.

Not mention that the A90 would have been the 2nd fastest (in terms of 0-60) Toyota ever, to only the LFA, if the RC-F facelift and Track edition release didn't happen on the same day

Tall order for sure, seen that one, that couldn't possibly be the only thing though, no?
Not to take anything away from the MKV but Toyota was able to present to the world what they were made of with MKIV just before the Japanese economy bubble bursted aka the "Lost Decade". Even till this day, they couldn't do it on their own. Do you remember Sharon Stone?

That’s one way to increase reliabilty lol although why would you put something awesome in something nowhere near as good looking as the car it came out of?

It’s really hard to compare MkIV and MkV. The MkIV was out since 2002. After 17 years, of course there have been a lot of changes. If the MkIV was not discontinued, we could have seen at least 2 more generations of Supra; and the MkV could have been MkVII instead. And considering this is the very first Supra that I can really buy( brand new) and drive, the MkV feels special to me. I was still a kid when the MkIV was available. Why not just embrace and celebrate the return of a legend...:)
