current range of actual voltage output is between 6.6-7.3

yes, tried jumping the car
That’s super dead, dead to the point jump starting won’t work.

For what it’s worth, with the car off the battery voltage should be around 12.6. 11ish range, you can charge it a couple times and be okay but it’ll eventually die out. Around 10, it needs to be replaced

If you haven’t already done so, hook it up as though you were going to jump it so it can get some volts to open the trunk. That way you don’t have to crawl back there to pull the release. Just fold a towel and lay it over the latch so you can open/close the lid without it re-latching until you get a new battery.

after all the attempted starts and the shenanigans of having to get it into neutral just to winch the damn car on and off the flatbed, the battery has died completely...RIP

thanks for the info on the trunk release J29DB03.

AT don't have the emergency shift release thing? It's like a small cover over a slot where you can insert a flat head or key to release the shifter.

I replaced the battery.
the car still won't start after 20+ attempts.
sputters then cuts off.

I smell fuel.
puffs of white smoke from exhaust.

electronics working as normal initially.
but after couple start attempts, weird shit happens.

replace starter assembly next??

Did you reprogram the new battery in?

ECU will still think old battery is in.

yessir...twice to make sure

recent scan still has a lot of codes citing "under voltage detected"

Helped a friend use BimmerLink to program the new battery but still had the same problem as you, turned out the new battery was also dead lol.

Maybe check the voltage of the new battery? Is it identical specs as the previous battery?
