Stock Michelin tires are cracking

Hey guys. 3000mi on 2 year old car in Central Florida and what I see? Tires started to crack. I don't think it is acceptable. What do you think maybe try to use Michelin (or Toyota dealership) warranty? Or it is ok and no reason to worry about?

We can't help you if you don't provide pictures of what you're talking about.
3000 Miles on stock Michelin PSS should not show much wear at all and 2 years of life on these tires with low mileage shouldn't result in cracks.
Please provide pics.

I use Chemical Guys dressing for tires (that in theory protect from UV). So sidewalls looks good. Cracks are on tread area.

You park outside I assume? FL sun is no joke. I would replace those for sure.

Hmmmm. There should be a date code on the tire. If you could post a pic maybe someone on here could translate.
IMO those tires look to be old. If so, I'd go back to the dealer and talk to a service writer about replacing them.

Date code is simply the week and year of manufacture. For example code 3820 would mean the 38th week of 2020.

I *think* if you are the original car owner you might be covered for a warranty claim. There's a card from Michelin that should have come with your new car purchase. It should have a number or address or email.

Ping Michelin about your concerns.
At worst, they'll reply with sorry.
At best, you'll get new tires or a partial offer of replacement.

Thanks for your advices, gentlemens) Im gonna do like exe36m3 said. I will let you know guys what they tell me. And also next month is oil change date, so I can speak with Toyota dealership too

Good luck with the replacement ? Lived in FL over 50 years. You’re going to get rot here pretty quickly. If they don’t swap them out for ya, you should be fine grocery getting. At least you appear to be in the early stages of rot. Great excuse to buy a spare set of wheels and something stickier to go with them.

What tyre pressure do you have on average.

That usually happens to michelin tyres with soft side walls. They need higher pressure.

Good luck with the replacement ? Lived in FL over 50 years. You’re going to get rot here pretty quickly. If they don’t swap them out for ya, you should be fine grocery getting. At least you appear to be in the early stages of rot. Great excuse to buy a spare set of wheels and something stickier to go with them.

Let me guess, in Florida anything made of white plastic like refrigerator door handles and aircon remote controls or air con wall units also turn a tobacco yellow after a few years?
As for the tyres I wouldn't even consider replacing them even for a track day. You'll wear them out at the track before a bit of surface cracking like that will cause an issue. Heavy commercial jet tyres used to look like this all the time and there were manual limits for ozone cracking and they have a much harder life than a car tyre. It never caused any issues on Jets. Unless the cracking exposed the carcass they were fine to stay in service.
