Since you didn't get to sit inside, how do you know that it's driver focused? The seat is very raked and the roof sill is very low simulating that low slung feel. The interior dash, panels, knobs all look very neutral positioned. I still don't get the sloped wall by the shifter that's on the driver's side. It should be on the passenger side.
From the looks of it and being up close, it is very similar to the Lexus RC, except it looks to be lower and have a tighter cabin. I compared by crouching down outside the open door on the Supra and my car. I should say it's more driving focused instead of driver focused. The interior is indeed neutral with the placement of knobs etc. I think they went with the Porsche approach with the horizontal design of the dash.
I shall sit in one next month.. I'm vacationing in Japan and will stop by as many GR shops as I can to spend some time within the A90. Sitting inside is the only way to know for sure if it's a driver's car (interior-wise).

I can see the RC design references among the BMW parts bins and the slight resemblance with the 911 dash. The 911 simple dash with 5 gauges has been a staple since the long hoods and it's possible that they gained some inspiration from that. I agree that it's driving focus but I still don't get that center console divider on the driver's side. Thanks for you feedback. I can't wait to see one in the flesh, sit inside and possibly drive it. That's when I'll be able to make a final decision if it's worth it or not.

Divulging more information: I talked a lot with the "product specialists" there under the Toyota tent, and she told me the Supra will offer the red leather interior (premium) on all exterior color options. IDK how true this could be, but I saw on her ipad what looked to be a specification document on all options for the vehicle. Toyota isn't known to offer all color interiors on certain exterior colors. BUT this car is being built by a contract manufacturer, so maybe there is leeway..? I started to think how Yellow on Red would look :hmm: ketchup and mustard lol.
If we are talking about the same red interior as in the launch edition models then I would find it highly unlikely to be offered as an option - that would defeat the purpose of the launch edition as that is its only selling point...

That is new info! I have my heart set on Launch specifically for the red interior. All of the preproduction models we have seen thus far have the black interior. Really hoping this is true.

The sloped wall by the shifter is there for you to use as a knee bolster during cornering. It is the same shape and height as the one on the door. This car is "driver focused" by function more than by design.

You forgot about those red mirrors and black wheels! ;)

Knee bolster's that high? Who's it meant for? Shaq? The M cars don't have them.

True. I don't think they designed your knees to go up all the way to the steering wheel :dunno: I think design wise it is supposed to evoke the "slingshot" look of the FT-1, where everything the driver needs is actually just cocooned within the area of the seat and the steering wheel

Bro, it's so you won't accidentally shift! lol

C'mon man!! You sounded so confident in your previous posts. :D  If you loc it out like a cholo in the first pic then it'll serve like a knee bolster. IMO, I don't see much of the FT-1 slingshot look because it reminds me of LC single wall on the passenger side, minus the "oh shit" handle.

Haha! You bring up a good point. That means there was never a manual transmission option for this car. When someone does a manual swap, that piece of shit is going to be first thing to go.

Hahaha yeah I remember seeing your 1st and 3rd pic before and thinking "oh hey that's a knee bolster," but after I replied I google searched and found something similar to your 2nd pic and thought, "hm.. that's not right.." lol

I think it makes more sense if you pull the seats back

Everything else exterior wise is rock solid. This was a base Supra with the alcantara seats which looked very nice. Red and white stitching on the interior.
Forgot to mention about the cheap looking black plastic side mirror caps of the base Supra. I hope Toyota could have upped it a bit, give it some paint and details, better fit and finish.

They just put a divider for the driver to feel that heā€™s separated from everything else. Aside from that, everything else feels well balanced between the driver and passenger. Unlike the A80, in which the cockpit is designed focusing around the driver alone.

Thereā€™s just something wrong with the badge. It just doesnā€™t feel or look right. It could take some time in order for us to getting used to the appearance and feel of the Toyota badge. As Toyota said, they will keep on improving the Supra. Aftermarket is the best solution for now. No idea why Toyota didnā€™t make an effort to make their badge stand out the most on the Supra. The badge is the most important part of the car.
Matter of opinion, but I think the badge is the least important part of the car...
