I'm dealing with the same thing over here. It is parked in the shade not an inside garage. got the same thing going on over here. Heat, humidity, and use all play a role.

Like Phil said, yours are probably fine being so mild and just starting. Myself, I’d see if they’ll replace them under warrantee. If not, watch them like a mofo. Playing pop ? goes the weasel with your tires ain’t fun. If they’re truly only 2 years old, they should be covered.

I'm sure this will start a fight, but if I'm wiping something on the tire that doesn't come recommended by the manufacturer of the tire, and the tire is degrading at an abnormal rate, I'd start by stopping to wipe said thing on the tire.

I'm sure others will flock here to say they use said products with "no issues", but ... just saying. But as you said these are in a harsh environment at close to 5 years old? Mileage is kind of irrelevant to dry rot issues. I mean just look at spares mounted to the back of an SUV that's 10 years old that have never been used.

I don't like any "tire shine" products for this very reason. I've been self-detailing cars and maintaining my entires family fleet of vehicles for about 25 years now. I see "dry-rot"/cracking on tires that are regularly "shined" more so than on tires that are NOT regularly "shined". I could be wrong, it's just been my experience.

Maybe you are right, but in my case I see cracks exactly where there is no coating. Where it was - everything is ok)) even if tire shine does not affect either positively or negatively - with it tires look better (but only if you wipe off the shine). Deep black))

It's a problem I have experienced with Michelins, I had a set of PS4s for 3 years and 30k km ish before it started cracking like that, by the 4th year the edge is full of it. I had another set of Michelin's do pretty much the same thing after 3 years but 50k km. Supra's Pss i 1.5 year old now, I don't see any yet thankfully.

My experience, most tires get aren’t what they are cracked up to be after 3-4 years on the road & in the elements ? And… there’s always expiration dates:

6 yeas past the build date I believe = time to swap

I *JUST* had the original Michelin PS tires from my Launch Edition (built in 2019) unmounted and they were in perfectly good shape still after six years.

The cracking is environmental, not the tire make. If they sit out in the sun and heat, or the cold, they will age exponentially.
