Yes. So if you are using the OEM amp for the JBL system you should choose 8 ohm 8” woofers. The Mobridge K2 and Match UP8 DSP can both run 2 ohm 8” woofers so I chose the 2 ohm versions in the Supra and the X3.

So you’re saying you replaced your factory subs w the 2ohm versions or you already had them?
Without adding a aftermarket sub how improved was the sound w the new amp? I hate how lacking the bass is from the factory, just wonder how far down the rabbit hole I’m gonna have to go to address it.

Yeah, I replaced the 8" woofers with the 2 ohm Morel versions since the amp can handle that load. If your only concern was the bass I would suggest doing a 10" sub with an amp using line level inputs for the best bang for buck and just leave everything else alone. The 8" woofers have trouble producing low frequencies. I have them set with a bandpass filter between 160 hz and 60 hz. 60 hz and below is being handled by the subwoofer.

Id like to improve the whole system which is why I’m weighing my options. I know I can just add an amp/sub but I’m not sure if that’ll get me the result I want. Thanks for the response.

One thing with the right amp is gaining DSP control. Individual gain adjustments for each speaker set, choosing your own crossover points, and even adjusting the timing of the speakers to try and reduce any nulls in the response all help a lot, in addition to some extra power of course. If you added a trunk sub along with the amp, you could still go back later to replace the 8" woofers if they weren't doing it for you.

In the BMW world at least, often the factory setup is actually adequate once you've given it extra power and tweaking, with a trunk sub doing the heavy lifting. When given something like a 60Hz crossover point, those 8" can perform a whole lot better. They may or may not ultimately be good enough, it depends on the owner's desires and their music. But they are a lot better and for some become good enough.

Oh, yes! They sound much better.

But I did eventually upgrade them since I went with the greater bass file.
