Hello everyone! I noticed there was some discussion about one of our batteries going into sleep mode due to the BMS. We’d like to clarify a few points to help everyone understand this feature and provide some guidance.

Why the Battery Enters Sleep Mode:
The sleep mode is most likely triggered by the Low Voltage Protection feature within the Battery Management System (BMS). This protection mechanism is crucial to keeping your battery cells safe from deep discharge damage. Lithium batteries are sensitive to low voltage, and without protection, they risk significant capacity loss or permanent damage.

What to Do if Your Battery Enters Sleep Mode:
If your battery goes into sleep mode, you’ll need a lithium compatible charger with a “wake” or "recondition" function (it does not have to be ours). This type of charger is designed to safely force-feed a small charge to wake up the battery and bring it back within a usable voltage range.

Additionally, all our batteries are covered under a 3-year warranty, so if you experience any issues, we’ve got you covered. We would love to clarify any questions or concerns if there are more.

Going to install mine today. Correct me if I’m wrong, here’s what I found out from the Victron Blue Smart Charger. The app pics below:

The *ABS* LED on your Victron Blue Smart Charger indicates that the charger is in the *absorption stage* of the charging process. During this stage, the battery is approximately 80% charged (or over 95% for Li-ion batteries). The charger maintains a constant voltage while gradually reducing the current as the battery approaches full charge. Once the absorption stage is complete, the charger will move to the *float* stage, which means the battery is fully charged and ready for use.

Takes quite a while even though I just did this last week. So I don’t want to install it in the car until the *FLOAT* or *STORAGE* LED on the charger is illuminated. These indicators mean the battery is fully charged:
*FLOAT LED*: The battery is fully charged and maintained at a constant voltage.
*STORAGE LED*: The battery is kept at a slightly reduced voltage to prevent overcharging and extend its life during long-term storage. If either of these LEDs is on, the battery has completed its charge cycle and can be safely used in your car.

So after about 2 hours I made it to this installing state.

It looks like the voltage readings are steady, which is a good start, but to fully confirm that the battery is ready for installation, we recommend verifying that it’s holding a charge effectively. Here are a couple of quick steps:

  1. Check the Voltage: After disconnecting the charger, test the battery's voltage and note the reading.
  2. Observe for Stability: Leave the battery idle for a few hours and test again to ensure the voltage is stable. A consistent reading suggests the BMS has successfully woken up and the battery is holding charge.
Once we confirm these steps, you should be good to proceed with installation. Feel free to post your readings here, and we’ll be glad to help you analyze them!

Damnnnnnnn…. I was already delayed a few hours to my car appt, getting it back up to storage mode. So I didn’t see this. But thanks for the info! I’ll try to call my shop this AM. I was easy to give them the battery since they’re doing other stuff to the car as well.

If they’ve already installed it, can I do this test after I pickup the car? *(working long days, next 4 days)*

It’s not a requirement, but we recommend it as a way to verify that the battery is functioning properly, especially since it was in BMS protection mode for an extended period. Please feel free to reach out if you have any other questions or concerns.

Appreciate it! Look forward to putting in the replacement one in as soon as it arrives. I anticipate it being as good as the one in my MX5. Will let you know how it goes.

The new one has been working perfectly! So thank you ?

Until you take the OEM battery out, you don’t realize how heavy that sucker is… Love that trickle charger too btw. My neighbor just got your battery for his Supra as well. Look forward to y’all coming out with more batteries for other vehicles. You have my permission to start with the VW GTi next. My wife has one of those ?

Bookmarked! Gracias ??

I was looking for one that had the specific drop down for our 2019 VW GTi. Didn’t realize the Touareg had the same exact battery. You should work for PowerTex Brian ?.
If you can fix that @PowertexBatteries , that’d be GREAT!!!!

EDIT (update): Both my Supra and the MX5 are firing up strong (and quicker than before - guess that’s a trait with these). Muchas Gracias PowerTex ?? for the replacement and Bryan for starting this thread in the 1st place! Wondering when Razorlab Inc. will be coming out with another must have item for our Supra?!? Upgraded battery ✅ M3 transmission pan ✅ Motul Xcess 5-40 oil ✅ what else am I missing? Wagner manifold & Femto unlock will have to wait until I can afford the proper time & money those would take.

And… anyone looking for a slightly used & really heavy OEM BMW battery that works in our Supra, I can hook you up!! Probably have to be local since the weight alone would cost more to ship than the battery itself ?

PowerTex ? is in Ft. Lauderdale, FL ?
If you think the batteries are made in FL…

They are manufactured in China just like Antigravity and pretty much all Lithium batteries.

It was literally the framework of why you and your bros hated EV's before.

Lithium cells don't come from Florida, friend. You can get the same base battery powertex uses for $259 or less without a BMS. You'll have to add one for any sort of longevity. A decent BMS is $150 or so. So this would require a little extra work but would save money. Just depends on how much work you are willing to put in to hit a price point https://www.amazon.com/XingCell-PH7-LiFePO4-Lithium-ion-Battery/dp/B09YC5YJ88?th=1
