Hey guys,

I was driving the Supra today when out of no where on a red light I got a parking system malfunction warning and now my parking sensors look like the picture.

I ran BimmerLink and the code that I got back w

-803211 (Ultrasonic sensor rear middle left data line: short circuit to ground)

-D4167B (Message error (request activation of parking 2 function, ID: RQ_ACTVN_FN_PKG_2) - timeout) whatever this means lol

any idea what this could be? Tryna see if it’s an easy fix before I go to Toyota since I have a trip coming up.

Thanks!!

Curious if any one has managed to fix yet? Mine occurs in a different manner where 90% of the time when I first put the car into reverse I'll get the parking sensor malfunction warning. I haven't ran bimmerlink codes to see if it spits out a specific sensor to go searching out but seeing I started having the issue with maybe 1500 miles on it I have a feeling its software driven.

I recall when I researched this issue a while back someone fixed it by updating iStep. Which if I had a non-work laptop I'd take a shot at myself.

Did you ever get this fixed?

Nope - haven't messed with, still hoping someone chimes in with a solution sooner than later. I'd give iStep update a shot, but all I have is my work laptop so not super motivated, yet.

I have the same issue for a while. My car was inspected today at Toyota and they said

- left front center sensor is erroring (so all others are turned off by the car).
- this sensor and one more has some visible damage, and have to be replaced before they look into other reasons (that's what their manual is saying).
-quoted me 300 for one sensor + labour, totaling around 1500!!! ?

Taking the car to another dealer to get a second opinion ?

My parking sensors for the sides were throwing an error, after getting coilovers installed. Ended up with like 7 warnings. I fixed it by calibrating the sensors on Toyota ISTA.

Download Toyota Techstream, pay for 2 day subscription. Download Toyota ISTA. Use ISTA to Calibrate parking sensors.

What was the procedure to do the calibration? Have to do this soon and not sure if its just a matter of readdressing it in the system or if I need to bust out the lasers and measurements in a shop.

Just to follow up on this
- I bought one sensor (250)
- removed bumper, replaced it and put it back (1.5hr of work)
- all works (no calibration of sotware needed if you only replace sensors)

bringing this from dead sorry.
I just had the front driver rock chip happen and now all sensors are malfunctioning.
dealer said it's the front driver plus i can see the chip.

they want 1500 which is nuts. If I just get a brand new sensor and replace the chip one, will that work or do i have to get it calibrated?

I had a similar issue last year. Toyota replaced the battery and issue resolved.

Correct — the issue was caused by a low battery. After replacing it, there have been no further problems (knock on wood!). I remember the dealer consulted with a head technician in Japan. The car was at the dealership for one week.
