Big update for me: my ā€˜21 went in for rings and pistons last week but I just found out that it’s getting a new block. Going to take a few weeks but I’m stoked with the outcome. Already planning a fun break-in road trip.
What was your consumption like? My 21 is burning a 3/4ths to a quart every 4-5k miles. Which is normal I think but not excessive

Eventually I was going from full to oil warning light (which you obviously can’t trust) at 700-1,000km, way worse. The dealer had to top it up every time for the warranty to cover the problem, so it was kinda annoying. New engine has been perfect so far, though.

I think 27k-ish but don't have the number on hand. It was a very, very slow process but turned out well in the end. The dealership who was helping me, and who I didn't buy the car from, was amazing. Toyota Canada was slow, of course.

I was getting 3 - 5,000km between warnings for more than a year, then it slowly got worse and worse.

Was your car modified? And damn I’m at 31k miles but I’m tuned on a cloned DME and have a 150k mile powertrain warranty. Car only burns 1 quart every 4-5k miles though so I’m probably not gonna get the issue you had

No, completely stock. I had plans, of course, but those got put off for a year and a half.

2021, need 1 qt every 1,300 miles. This engine is garbage. Drove an audi B8.5 S4 for 70,000 miles plus track days with no oil issues. Sad but true

hm I recently had to top off a quart at 6-7k miles which is unsusal.
Car sits at around 60k miles.
Warning came up without forcing the measuring.
But it’s a bit strange because I forced the measuring at 5k miles and it said the oil level is fine so it burned at least under half a quart before and half a quart in the last 2k miles.
Strange thing is there is no sign at the spark plugs for excessive oil consumption. They are just fine and looking mild brown without any oil on it.
Temperatures are way up in the last couple of weeks so basically that’s the reason
I’m still using 0w20 but will change to 0w30 soon. It’s brand new and they said it has better temperature resistance.
My guess is the oil is vaporizing, maybe not even in the combustion chamber.
Pressure test is fine and there are no leaks.
Also no smell or typical signs from the exhaust.
Car is tuned at Stage 1 for like 45k miles now.
Mixed driving.

I also noticed some oils are not long life rated.
If anyone is using Liqui moly 5w30 there is a new long life version of it ā€œ5w30 - 4200 New Generationā€ It’s SP and C3 rated
I will maybe test them after the 0w30 test cycle.

21' with about 48k miles, msi intake (installed at 40kish), with no other performance mods on stock oil.

Got a low oil warning at 38/39k miles (last service prior to that was at 30k miles around december 2023) and now I got another low oil warning again at 48k. I also had an issue with coolant being low in the last 20k miles (not sure if this is relevant). I don't track the car but do go for spirited drives sometimes and I have noticed a burnt oil smell recently when pushing hard. Should I be worried at all? I would be fine with adding a few quarts every 7 or 8k miles but I am worried that there's a bigger issue. Any suggestions would be cool.

ps - I wasn't able to measure the oil level but I'm guess that's because the oil temp was too high.

Can’t tell if this is a troll post or not. This isn’t a camry to be on a 10K interval oil change schedule. Spend that door dash money on an oil change every 5K, problem solved.

Lmao not sure if you're serious or not with your response but w/e. For those of you actually looking for info...

Had the oil control module (not sure of the exact name) changed a few months ago because the car was unable to measure oil for the consumption test (I guess they don't take all the oil out and do a measurement for whatever reason) so I brought the car back for a follow up consumption test and they were unable to measure the oil again. SO, it looks like they're going to replace the oil pump, pistons, and piston rings to resolve the issues they are seeing under warrant.

I have no video but I can tell you how to do it. Requires some fabrication skills though. You need a Banjo fitting in place of the sump plug and a short flex line off that to a rigid dipstick and tube assembly which you can buy in various lengths. So the banjo needs to be a -12 or there abouts and you can drill and tap maybe a 6-8mm hole through the centre of the banjo bolt that holds it to the sump drain point so you can still drain the oil. Obviously oil drain will take a lot longer than the std drain bolt but who cares. You also need to find a path for the drain tube and some mount points for it and work out the correct length. So the banjo fitting comes off the sump plug face at 90 degrees and the flex line attached then bends 90 degrees to point upwards where it connects to the bottom of the dipstick tube. The height of the bottom of the tube needs to be somewhere near the height of the oil in the sump when the engine is off. It's a simple concept but fiddly to do. The dipstick tube can have gentle bends in it.

Not a Corvette.
Or just measure the oil to the mm via the data item. Which is probably 1000% more accurate than your eyes. I'll take that over a stick with oil smear on it that is not as accurate.

Why do you need a dipstick? The future is for people that want it.
