Picked up a new 2026 final edition auto. Traded in 2021 3.0 premium and notice there is a play in steering wheel . Feels a lot different than my old 21 . Any idea why would a brand new car have steering play? Had 9 miles when I got it.
dumb question: does the FE still have steering optimization like sport/normal mode? maybe its in normal?
I noticed the loose steering in my new Final edition too. I went into Sport Mode customization, and I had steering set to "Sport." I set it to "normal" and it seems much better.

Did you happen to check for those transport spacer things & see if they‘re still installed?
I’m not sure what is that can you specify please . Thanks.

Check shocks to see if there's a thick white circle thing made of plastic on the shaft. Those are used for transporting to make sure the car shocks don't bottom out. Dealers forget to take them off.

Wake up dude. How can you sleep when your ’26 FE steers like a sprinter van and is looser than Gandalf’s sleeve?? Taking bets on whether it’s transport spacers or if the steering rack needs some minor adjustment.

I have a 2026 base 3.0 version, so none of the FE options and my steering feels normal. I haven't driven other years to see if there's a difference, but I can say mine seems pretty sharp with no dead zone in the middle. If anything, I need to check the toe as it feels like the front has some toe out that makes it very lively when driving down the freeway.

If the FE has the added camber knuckles, revised EPS tuning, then I'd guess it's something in the tuning (especially if changing modes changes the dead spot). That said, it might not hurt to put a set of toe plates on it just to see where the toe is set for now.

The strut pucks shouldn't create the issue he is having but worth it to check anyway.
Get them pucks out, get a good alignment and track that bad boi. Bet she’ll be good to go after that…

Im betting steering rack adjustment and if its really bad like mine was would probably benefit from an alignment right after.

What kind of play are you actually experiencing?
Like some sort of dead zone on steering it won’t steer quick until it hit the spot . My old 21 was not like this and as soon as you turn car turned right away . 26 FE seems little loose not sure what to do waiting on ppf to get done for more testing .
