For $1,800 the bumper to bumper warranty goes from 36 months to 84 months. I thought it was worth it considering the BMW sourced drivetrain reliability is yet to be seen. I can cancel it whenever. Thoughts?

I am thinking the same thing but am hoping that I can barter for the warranty by allowing the dealer to keep my car in the showroom for a few weeks to generate some business.

Toyota already provides 60months powertrain warranty. Is 24months extra coverage worth the $1,800?

I did get the extra warranty for 8yr/75K , I'll try to scan the brochure later, but what it does is cover more than powertrain for that duration. I don't know what Comprehensive includes, but if it's the same thing, then mine extends it from 3 to 8 yr.... Brochure pretty much had every part listed in the car :)
Obviously having the need for warranty is a gamble like insurance. My logic was, already paying ~60K, why not pay that bit extra and get extra piece of mind...
Only problem is, I've yet to get a straight answer if any mods will void the warranty or not... Just FYI, I'm not planning on going crazy with engine mods at least the 1st year maybe more, depending on what's out there and how much I like factory performance.

Don't know if people are financing or whatever, but if you're financing lets say for 84 months as well, $1,800 comes down to $21.42/month (not including the interest rate of financing..)

Historically/statistically, extended warranties (which are an insurance policy) go strongly in the favor of the seller. So keep that in mind.

Having owned BMWs, most of the issues I have had have been with sensors and electronic gremlins. The bright side is that the labor rates at my Toyota dealer are lower than the BMW dealer.

Did you finance the car through Toyota Financial? What kind of rate did you get if you don't mind me asking

Don’t do anything to the car and your warranty will stay intact. A tune, filter, or downpipe can all theoretically and likely will void your warranty if anything major occurs. I believe Tada has said that in multiple interviews and some articles. No different than any other car ever made.

Also, the mag-moss act is inapplicable in this case. Unless you are prepared for a legal battle, Toyota will win and the car will be fixed out of pocket.

I would suggest if you want a VSA email this person..... Well noted on other Toyota forums, and I confirmed I can share her email..... That is where I purchased mine, for much lower than any of the other costs shared. Its for the Toyoguard Platinum. Note if you deal with her, she will send you a table of the costs and all options. DO NOT share/post that information.

This is what I received from my dealer. Not a bad idea if keeping the car past the warranty. Car comes with a powertrain warranty 5 years/60,000 miles from Toyota. The extended warranty covers components past the basic 3 year 36,000 mile warranty and extends the powertrain warranty based on the plan chosen. I know Toyota improved internals on this engine. Had parts tested to meet its quality control. Reliability was a concern and BMW doesn’t have near the reliability of Toyota.
