I’ve noticed this as well on my pmu cr’s. I feel like they get better after 3-4 runs. It still shudders a bit but much less as they wear in. This was on fresh pads and rotors after a razorlab suggested gnarly bed in process.
I've noticed that on the first session out each track weekend with the PMU CR's I get a lot of shudder. This has gone away by the second session each time. I've got another track day in a week, so we'll see if it repeats this same pattern for a 3rd time.

Well, its test season after putting parts in and 1st track season with 3.0, but some results r in, and so far it looks good compared to competition, in my street2 class which is what i actually focus on i already have 4 1st places and may grab full championship if i keep up the good work 👀 car is 1550kg/450whp with full interior, but kinda smashes competition, cars like Schrimmer M2's, M3 CS etc

But well, cheap wheels got bent, ebc bbk is overheating so need to adress this, susp needs work coz running front sway only is not the way to go (understeer) and i want to put proper aero instead of this basic verus stuff i have now (meh splitter, car is aero understeery coz wing easily overpowers front). So there is a lot to tweak for 2026 :)
Still, it stays competitive vs all the Porsches out there in all steeet generall class, maybe with further improvements it could even rival best 992's for street podium. Some of them do run Trofeo RS/CUP2r tho...

Biggest problem is i still cook oil even with intake manifold and external verus oil cooler :/

New livery incoming coz im bored with current one after 20months of it 😅
@FLtrackdays Update for U haha

Atta boyEEEE 🙌🏼 🏆

Get that rear sway bar ASAP. You’ll be able to dial out that understeer and she’ll rotate much quicker/easier. And try some of that delicious XCess 0-40 oil. Besides that… Wow 🤩. Beautiful car hombré. Glad to hear our Zupras are consistent all over the globe 🌍 Gotta luv what this car can do given her power to weight ratio.

I can’t remember. Did you get an upgraded manifold? If not, you’d dig it for any longer or hotter stints. That’s about all I see with the more competitive folks in my schweaty neck of the woods.

Some very unprofessional driving from the weekend with @DC5UPRA.

Following him:

1:42 was the fastest I went all weekend. First time at CMP, on endurance staggered ECFs.

1:44 but some fun turns.
Great driving with you this weekend. Look forward to more in the future.

Yes, it has all pwr cooling, wagner IM and verus oil cooler. It still cooks oil, just slower, but when i do a cooling lap or 2 it lowers the temps pretty fast. (like 40C less oil temp in 2 good cooling laps). Will try the 1000w fan mod coz i have time to do it finally.

As for understeer - i could dial it out with suspension adjust but honestly i'd run stiffer on sways for more roll control. Also, 2.0 before felt better with both sways vs front only.
I think bit stiffer springs + both sways will be a good setup for upcoming aero changes.

As i type this car is not looking like above anymore, some changes incoming, more classic GR livery with a twist ;)

What temps are you seeing for oil?

Up to 290F.
Before mods on stock cooling stock power at like 9° (so pretty cold) it still went up to 140°C on smaller tracks.
So i'd say its better but still 2hot for my liking. I do 1000w fan next week and go Lausitzring to test end of august so will see if it helps any.

I cook the brakes too, so I'm doing AP 9668 +72vane proper motrosport disc now with verus brake ducts. I brake deep n hard, thats where i gain, since most ppl underbrake.

I overheated 2.0 too but on semislicks i was winning with stock power again m2's f87, i pushed that car to 101% 😅

Its naked 👀

Well, after doing my track day a Barber, I've decided I want to do a bit more. I've races wheel to wheel for 20+ years on a lot of tracks in the Midwest, but now I want to hit a few down south that have been kind of a Bucket List thing for me. I'm not looking to modify my car much, if at all. I just enjoy learning a new track and going fast enough to get some adrenaline flowing!

First up is Daytona in September. I've been there many times as a spectator and once as a photographer. Now I want to try out the high banks for myself.

Then I'm going to Sebring. I've run there twice in a 2008 NC Miata. But this time I'm hoping to twist another Supra forum member's arm to come along. But I'm driving a bone stock car and his is pretty much a serious track day car.

Down the road, like next Spring, I'd like to get to Road Atlanta and VIR. I've been a photographer at both, but never got the opportunity to run either.

Not a Corvette.

I’ve lost count of how many times I have told myself this in my life. My Supra was “I’m buying this because it’s track capable stock and I’m sick of the modding rabbit hole”

Oh, I hear ya! I started in 1980 racing a Fiat X1/9 in SCCA Showroom Stock C. Great fun and inexpensive. Then I got what was called a Sport Renault (now a Spec Racer Ford) and found out I was a pretty good driver, but only about 10th to 15th in a field of 40 to 50 cars.

Then I went back to Showroom Stock with a 1987 Toyota MR2. More inexpensive fun. But it aged out of the class and I had to go to Improved Touring and make some serious mods (a bit more than a serious track day car). I enjoyed making it faster and it didn't cost too much. Then I crashed it hard and that winter, SCCA made a big philosophical change. Production cars went from being all roadsters to all uni-body carsa and GT went from all hardtops to all tube frame cars. So we put the MR2 back together as an E Production race car. It started out reasonable enough as far as costs went. But I had to spend more and more to get competitive. By the 3rd year I had put over $40,000 into it (this is back in 1990 dollars).

I could afford it, but then a divorce cost me WAY more and I sold the MR2 and most of the spares. But I bought a 1990 GEO Prizm to race in Improved Touring B. It was a Toyota Corolla in GM clothing, and it used a lot of MR2 hardware. It was a great car and still inexpensive to race. But I loaned it to a crew member to do a driver school and he totaled it... and bought it.

At that point I quite racing, moved from Ohio to Florida and took up sailing and snorkeling! But after 5 years the car bug bit and I got a Miata to play with and started doing autocross. Gees, is it ever different than road racing! So I started doing an occasional track day as well. Now, with the Supra, I don't expect to do many auto-x days, and maybe just a handful of track days... until I'm too slow to be out on track. I expect that's another 5+ years away!

This was my E Prod MR2 at the SCCA Runoffs National Championship in 1995 at Mid-Ohio.

Let me know your timeline on this. I can set you up with both tracks. How about ViR in November this year ;)

290F is "fine" in the sense that the oil will do it, but I agree that it's a good idea to fix now before there's an issue down the road. This car does put some heat into the oil (makes me think of the C5 Vettes) and the one kit on the market is sized for the average track day enthusiast vs someone doing more hard core stuff. It sounds like you've got some great plans though and I bet they'll work well for your goals!
