I was told by a dealership employee that Toyota was pulling allocations for dealerships that advertised over MSRP. Something about a policy that they could sell over MSRP but not advertise.

Any truth to this?

I seriously doubt that.

Disclaimer: I am not paid nor work for this dealerships.

I have ordered my LE from this dealership, but it has not came in yet. My dealership called me today and ask me to come see the downshift blue in person. They would had gave me priority on this car over other customer because I am still waiting for the LE. I decided that I wanted to continue to wait for the LE and not purchase the blue today. So I’m sharing this info for anyone who is in VA and looking for a premium down shift blue. The car is not listed or on showroom yet. But DM me or call them and ask for Zak. He would be able to help you with the car.

I jumped into this late, unfortunately.

I went through this last year searching for a TRD Pro 4Runner in Voodoo Blue but after 3 weeks found one local for MSRP sans dealer installed window tint. Two years ago when I wanted a Porsche GT3 the dealers here in SoCal went crazy with the ADM as well. My local dealer that services my wife's 911 agreed to let me order one, a PTS slot for 2500 mark-up as long as I waited, I did wait 26 months! But it favored me as the .1 was replaced with a better .2 and that is what I ended up with and it worked out.

My dealer who I bought the TRD from said their LE which arrives in 2 weeks is going to be marked up 20k. I said no thanks. They said they will " work with me" on a non LE. I said I will be wanting to know the exact terms before I commit as I have plenty of cars and my daily is a RS3 so I am not inclined to be foolish with my money to have a LE or over-pay for a non LE.

Yesterday as my wife wanted to see one in person went with me to two dealers that had them, one was marked up 40k ( they said they turned down a 32k over sticker offer) and another was listed for ....162.555 ( I cannot explain the 555 dollars) What neither of us can reconcile is the car is a 55k Toyota ( leaving out the BMW potion) that the ask is approaching Porsche GT car level or exceeding it!

Then there is in California the fact sales tax is 9% on sale price not MSRP so that is another 5k in cost. Then there is the gift that keeps giving, car registration in this state is based on sales price. So a 100k car is about 1100 dollars a year for your tags. This, because of recent gas tax changes will decrease very slowly over the years. So the hidden cost of ADM is thousands more to the State.

In the Porsche world we are used to the Porsche tax and while no one likes it or like I am reading on this board admitting to paying it there tens to be a safer out if you pick the right color ( PTS helps) and model when you go to sell it. ADM is never recovered, which is why there are so many GT's on the market languishing. Outside of YouTube silly money from a handful I just cannot believe anyone is willing to hand over that free money for this car as nice at is. Yet, people must be doing just that or they would not be selling them....or perhaps they are not and it's a ruse. I have about 60 inquries out throughout the country, I missed on one at a 4k mark up because I was tied up in court last week so that sucked but so far I have rolled snake eyes. But I am patient and relentless. I have decided I want the car ( just not black or yellow) so I will find one I hope.

I hope everyone else who wants one finds success as well ( at least after I do :) )

Look forward to posting my purchase someday!

My dealer also reported that Toyota informed dealers if they advertised over, that dealer would not receive another one. Of course they could always have a change of heart.

What color did you get your .2 in? I’d be really interested in hearing your comparisons between that and the Supra whenever you get one. Absolute dream combo right there.

Well this did not take long. I just bought a Blue one at MSRP, of course I have to ship to the other side of the country but I liked the dealer and they have so far been very transparent.

I did tell them I want the warranty and tire/wheel protection.

Pretty excited.

As far as my GT3 I got it in Maritime Blue. My RS3 is in Riveria Blue and my wife has a Ruby Stone GTS, we like our colors :)

I don't understand how "Private Sellers" are listing their car as "New" on eBay. That seems, bogus?

If anyone is in California and are itching for a 887 number Launch Edition in Red. Mossy Toyota has one for 10k over MSRP

They seemed panicked to sale. First saying this car will sell for 100k. Kept saying no until they offered me 10k over. Then said someone is coming in with a 40k check over MSRP tomorrow and this car be gone for 95k.

I wonder whose right lol! Why would they sale it to me for 65k when they could get 95k for it hmmmm...

But anyone willing to drop 10k over? Here you go!
