If that was actually true then anyone going to a track day with a viper, ZL1 1LE, Z06, McLaren, etc would be fast. We all know that is very untrue.

Driving a powerful car fast takes time and skill.

Honestly, some days I miss a stock power Supra. You can just mash the gas without thinking/worrying about it.

A lot of this.

And i think most people underestimate how how much aero/downforce a 992 GT3 RS has. I'll reiterate: a 1000+ C8 ZR1 could not put down a faster lap time. And it's not like that ZR1 was not specifically built to go fast around a track...

After talking with Ryan from Zebulon and AJ Hartman a bit I think matching it wih good wing, proper splitter and accesory mods like canards, splitter endplates, venting is doable tho. Not talking delulu cfd numbers, more like wind tunnel data etc.
Will see how it impacts times when i switch to proper aero. And i am doing some underbody flow control stuff :>

yes i agree, i just ment adding 300whp to mine would cut me a lot of time instantly, i wana corner match 992, not just gain on straights.
Atm my car is even 100-200 with 992 gt3/3rs coz i raced them on straights, no1 was pulling away, thx torque i guess lol

One piece that's really overlooked for the GT3/RS cars is just how good their gearing is. The downforce is bonkers and with the engine really adding grip to the rear it's a complete package, but that gearing means you really don't drop out of the power band at any given point and it's always on boil.

It's a super refined car that makes track driving at high levels a bit easier than the rest. It doesn't make it easy, but it's definitely a lower bar to go stupid fast and holds your hand through corners.

It doesn't hurt that it sounds fantastic either.

The other piece overlooked is that the GT3RS is more than 4x the cost of a Supra and 3x the cost of what I have in my Supra.

That is, if you can even get one. I sure as hell can't just walk into a dealership and buy or order one since I have no Porsche ownership history.

I don't think the price difference is overlooked here...

I also don't think the venn diagram of people who are actively shopping for a 3RS has much overlap with people who are shopping for a Supra. The few people I know with 992 GT3's or any recent 3RS have all either found them via brokers or lucked into deals.

The Supra punches above it's weight. The GT3RS just punches harder and has more cohesion as a total package. It's priced (both new and used) somewhat accordingly. That said I think it's over priced currently by a bit.

Yeah I'm definitely not overlooking the 3RS price 🤣

I think the Cayman GT4 is Porsche's current sweet spot in terms of price/performance. But I'm not convinced it would be meaningfully faster than a Supra and would be harder to modify.

Two of my supra track buddies will disagree. One had a 3RS and moved to a supra, one has a 3RS and a Supra.

This is a much better comparison as they are both strut front, and as a reminder, the MK5 Supra development used a Cayman as a benchmark.

So, since you brought it up, VERY few GT4's are anywhere close to Supra times at my local track.

Gearing in the GT4 is also ass.

Man, I have thousands of laps at Lime Rock and yet to get a photo like that. Never anyone taking photos at that area.
Gridlife has some really great photographers that come out, Rob is awesome.

I got a friend, he has stripped gt3rs 991 on ttx, stripped gt2rs on ttx and stripped 600hp supra, all on full slicks. He also is usually the fastest driver of the day on competitions, he knows how to drive.

He says 911's are easy to drive for the performance they give u back. Supra is hard to drive very fasy but rewarding, he says it has best front end out of those 3 and after they sorted the car he likes the supra as much as his porsches. He suprised me there....

And i heared this few times already from track guys that 911's are overall easy to drive compared to stuff like AMG GT R, Radicals etc
